Darwin still marked by Cyclone Tracy, 50 years on

00:00Yes, we went through all the devastation, you know, we lost our home, we lost our pets,

00:07we had nothing, but we had a whole country of people we didn't know.

00:15And I'm talking about Aboriginal, non-Aboriginal people, the whole country supporting us from

00:21our country in Darwin.

00:23But they took such kind, they were so kind, and they took such good care of us.

00:28Those kinds of things can impact on someone's lives when they are in despair.

00:35And that's what people did for us when we were in Adelaide, when we were the refugees

00:41and had nowhere to go, and people were so kind.

00:48And that's something that I believe was reinforced for me because of Cyclone Tracey.
