On September 11, builders put up scaffolding and a thick black gauze around one of the blocks in the up-market Glebe Park Residence complex.

00:00This is now our sitting room, as we know it.

00:04We've now been more than fenced in like caged animals.

00:08They've now put a second layer of that black gauze up there

00:13between the balcony and the scaff.

00:19So, in fact, between us and the outside world,

00:23there are three layers of this black gauze.

00:26They've gone around the corner here.

00:29So that's just like having black curtains over our side windows here.

00:35It's a beautiful, beautiful sunny day in Canberra,

00:39but we need our lights on.

00:42It's outrageous.
