00:00U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear TikTok's appeal against a law requiring its Chinese owner

00:05ByteDance to sell the platform or shut it down. Oral arguments are set for January 10th,

00:12just days before a potential ban on TikTok unless ByteDance divests by January 19th.

00:18Signed by President Joe Biden in April, the law would block TikTok from U.S. app stores

00:23and hosting services if ByteDance retains ownership. TikTok argues the law violates

00:29its First Amendment rights. Moreover, a spokesperson from the company said

00:33they are pleased with today's Supreme Court order.
