NSW man accused of killing former partner facing fresh charges

Additional charges have been laid against a New South Wales man accused of killing twenty-eight-year-old Molly Ticehurst in the state's central west earlier this year.

00:00Daniel Billings is already facing charges of murder, stalking and intimidation, sexual

00:07assault and animal cruelty, but today at the park's local court he's had four fresh charges

00:12laid against him.

00:13They include one count of aggravated sexual assault where he allegedly threatened to cause

00:18bodily harm to Ms. Ticehurst.

00:20There's also two counts of recklessly destroying Ms. Ticehurst's property, a pedestal fan and

00:25the window of a car.

00:26The final fresh charge relates to sexual intercourse without consent.

00:31Ms. Ticehurst's family were at the park's local court today to observe proceedings but

00:35Mr. Billings himself didn't appear.

00:37Instead, his lawyer Diane Elston appeared via audio-visual link.

00:41She told the court now that they know what the Crown's case is against her client, they're

00:46able to have Mr. Billings mentally assessed.

00:49She said that wasn't possible until the charge certifications were finalised today in court.

00:54Those charge certification documents show that the Office for the Director of Public

00:58Prosecutions intends to withdraw some of the charges against Mr. Billings.

01:03The matter is adjourned until March next year for the committal hearing.
