00:00Hundreds of mysterious night-time flights of drones have been seen over parts of New

00:04York and New Jersey in recent weeks, raising multiple questions and fueling fears of a

00:09foreign threat.

00:10The U.S. Democrat Senator for New York Chuck Schumer is calling on the Department of Homeland

00:15Security to use technology that identifies and tracks drones back to their landing spots.

00:21He wants a coordinated police response.

00:24I am going to help pass and I'm going to co-sponsor legislation that will combat these

00:31drones in a better way by allowing local police departments and state police departments to

00:37help the feds in sighting these drones.

00:40Certain agencies have the power to incapacitate such devices.

00:44The U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security told ABC's George Stephanopoulos that he needed

00:49those authorities expanded.

00:51He downplayed the possibility of a foreign threat.

00:54We know of no foreign involvement with respect to the sightings in the Northeast.

01:00And we are vigilant in investigating this matter.

01:28The U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said last week one option was to shoot the drones
