00:00Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will serve as a personal advisor to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim when Malaysia leads ASEAN next year.

00:12Anwar said Thaksin will be supported by a team of members of various ASEAN countries, while adding that his appointment is unofficial.

00:22He thanked Prime Minister Anak Bungsu Thaksin for agreeing to this matter and added that he needed the benefits of a citizen's experience like that.

00:34Thaksin was the Prime Minister of Thailand from 2001 to 2006 when he was arrested in a military raid before returning to Thailand in August 2023.

00:45He should be re-imprisoned for 8 years for corruption and abuse of power.

00:51However, within a few days, his sentence was reduced to one year by King Thaimaha Vajiralongkorn.

00:59The 74-year-old millionaire was released on parole on February 18 after being detained for six months.
