Brisbane Broncos star Ezra Mam fined for head-on crash while on 'cocktail' of drugs, including cocaine

NRL star Ezra Mam has been fined and had his license suspended after a head on car-crash earlier this year while on a "cocktail" of drugs.

00:00Mam pleaded guilty here in Brisbane's Magistrate Court to driving while a drug was present

00:07in his system and driving while he had a suspended license.

00:11In October, the star Broncos 5-8 was involved in a head-on collision at Barden in Brisbane's

00:17West with an Uber.

00:19Two of the Uber's occupants, a woman and a child, sustained minor injuries.

00:23Following the accident, Mam failed a roadside drug test and a second one later at hospital.

00:29The judge heard today that he had a cocktail of drunks in his system, including cocaine.

00:34The judge labelled his actions as stupid, saying he could have killed someone or himself.

00:39While speaking outside the court today, Mam said he was deeply sorry for his actions and

00:44will reach out to the victims directly today to apologise and start to remedy that process.

00:49This incident isn't a reflection of who I want to be, but what is expected of me as

00:54a role model.

00:55To the NRL, the Brisbane Broncos, the fans and my family, I'm sorry.
