01:07Actually, for me, hindi naman kailangan super yung pang mga iniisip na mga tao na yun yung pang typical na thin ka or beautiful face ka.
01:15As long as you know how to manage, i-dalhin mo ang salili mo in front of everybody.
01:19I think yan yung pinaka masasabi mong beauty eh and the sexy itself.
01:24Kasi kung paano mo din nalang salili mo, ganun din ang makikita ng iba.
01:28They will not judge you of who you are but they will judge you of how you carry yourself.
01:32Pero totoo ba yung sinasabi nila na isa sa mga major parang kailangan daw sa pagiging isang volleyball player ay matangkad?
01:39Paano naman yung mga taong gusto rin pupasukin yung pagba-volleyball na hindi naman binigyan ng katangkaran, ganun?
01:46Actually, hindi talaga siya yung pinaka-requirement.
01:50Ang pinaka-requirement dito is you have that fighting spirit, you have that willing-to-learn attitude.
01:55Kasi ako, I started playing volleyball as in wala talaga ako.
01:58Advantage lang yung may height ka, advantage lang yung maliksi ka, ganun.
02:02You have all the strength na kailangan for the sport na you play for.
02:05And I believe yung talent mo, ang skills mo sa sport is nade-develop mo siya and na-acquire mo siya along the way as long as you are very willing to learn.
02:15Pero bago ka maging isang volleyball player, sino ba si Joy Dacoro?
02:20Ah, sino ba ako? I think 15 years ago, isa lang akong mahilig mag-aral.
02:27Kasi dati pinapangarap ko talaga maging accountancy student, ganun, accounting yung gusto kong course.
02:33And then nung nag-shift ako, kasi nakita ako sa isang pare sa amin.
02:37Kasi mahilig ako mag-simba.
02:39So nakita ako kasi sobrang tangkad ko.
02:42So in-offer nila sa akin if I'm willing to play sport na volleyball.
02:46So I don't have any background sa sport.
02:48So nag-oo lang ako kasi as a probinsyana especially, pinakamalay yung part ng Cebu, the Oslo of Cebu.
02:55So pinaka-south siya.
02:56So opportunity if you will be offered to play outside the Cebu, so Manila.
03:03So I grabbed the opportunity kahit na I don't know what's the future ahead.
03:08And then here comes me.
03:09So I think if nakadistant talaga sa'yo, all you have to do is be at present and believe in yourself.
03:15Pero meron ka bang pinakahinahangaan or idol na volleyball player?
03:21Dati nung pumasok ako sa sport, wala talaga.
03:25Sadyang, when I landed in Manila, doon yung minute ko yung mga teammates ko sa Adamson,
03:31doon ako na amazed during the first training na, wow, ang lalakas nila.
03:35Grabe, may ganun pala na sport.
03:37Na, I mean, sa probinsya kasi hindi ganun masyadong na-implement yung volleyball dati eh.
03:43Tapos nung pumunta ko sa Manila, sikat pala and then here comes may mga league na, UAAP, televised na, nakikita na.
03:49So yun yung nag-motivate sa akin, na open yung mind ko, yung interest ko doon sa sport na habang tumatagal,
03:57nag-gugustuhan ko yung sport and before that, na nakaka-land ako sa professional league talaga.
04:03Nung college pa lang ako, ina-idolize ko talaga si Ate Pausuriano. Senior ko siya dati sa Adamson University.
04:09Ano namang masasabi mo sa mga ina-idolize ka rin?
04:13Sa mga fans mo, ganun.
04:16Um, ayun, parang thank you.
04:20Nakakaiyak kasi hindi ko in-expect na darating ako sa point na to na iniidolo ako.
04:25Hindi lang yung sa larangan ng sport, but outside the sport and how I carry myself,
04:28how I inspire others, especially dun sa mga resiliency, na mga bagay naman yung pinagdadaanan ka.
04:34Lahat naman tayo may pinagdadaanan and I'm very thankful na naging part ako sa volleyball community.
04:39Kasi for sure, madami sa mga nanunood or na gugustuhan ang volleyball na ito din yung parang isa sa mga scapeaway nila
04:48dun sa mga problema na meron sila na pag nanunood sila ng volleyball, pag naglalaro sila ng volleyball,
04:53they are at peace.
04:55Bukod ba sa pagiging isang volleyball player, meron ka pa bang ibang pinagkakaabalahan, outside volleyball, ganun?
05:03Pinagkakaabalahan right now, wala, pero interest madami.
05:06Like, dati nag-ano ko, panelist ako, at the same time, I tried business,
05:11pero hindi pa siya carry, hindi pa siya kaya sa timeline na meron ako ngayon.
05:15So ngayon, nagpo-focus muna ako sa volleyball.
05:19Pag may mga spare time, I go to orphanage kasi tumutulong din ako,
05:22nag-inspire din ako ng mga kabataan doon.
05:24And aside from being a volleyball player, you're also a beauty queen.
05:28So last year, sumalik ka sa isang national fan.
05:32So I joined Binibining Pilipinas kasi pangarap talaga siya ng papa ko.
05:36And naging pangarap ko na lang din, napagging pangarap ko na din siya.
05:39And then it was a great experience, lalo na daing mga girls nakasalamuhan.
05:43And it inspired me also to be empowered women to inspire others also.
05:48What made you decide na pasukin yung pageantry world?
05:52Kasi nga, di ba, busy ka sa pagiging volleyball player.
05:55So paano mo na pagsabay yung time mo sa pagiging isang beauty queen at sa pagiging isang volleyball player?
06:00Honestly, ano talaga siya eh, commitment talaga siya.
06:03I stopped playing volleyball for a month para mag-focus lang sa pageantry,
06:08para matutunan yung mga pasurela, madami in everything, lalo na yung mga how you will present yourself, the grooming self.
06:15So, I stopped playing volleyball that time.
06:18And I joined pageantry kasi before, parang okay lang, play, play, laro ako, yun lang ang karakter na meron si Joy.
06:27But when I get out from my comfort zone, I realized madami pa palang bagay na pwede kang maging inspirasyon.
06:33And it's a good platform for me also to jump in pageantry kasi as an athlete, sometimes you forget na parang very inspirational ka pala.
06:42So kasi wala kang kumpiyansa sa sarili mo eh.
06:44But nung nag-join ako sa pageantry, mas nakilala ko ang sarili ko na I have something pala to offer to the community that can help them also mold themselves and be inspirable.

07:41I believe they play a very important role, especially in the family.
07:45I really admire my mother.
07:46My mother really helped us and, I mean, a big contribution to who I am right now and to my siblings.
07:55Because they nurture us, give us the nutrients, the care, the love that we also share to other people.
08:04And I believe without women, we cannot be a peaceful and a good community.

08:21How do you define success?
08:25Personally, I'll be turning 30 this year.
08:28I realize success is a personal piece and how you make yourself happy of where we are right now.
08:36It's okay to dream, it's okay to aspire a lot of things, but if you are not at present, you are not enjoying, especially the community you are with, the people you are with, surround with, you will not find that success.
08:50And very broad yung success, but to make it more personal, success is having a peace in yourself, knowing that you did all your best during that day.
