Our little group here is representing Bowen WI and supporting all the people in the village
00:07
directly who have been severely affected, particularly the hairdresser and the cafe
00:12
which is very well used, and the pub.
00:16
It's becoming that we're all aware of what is happening and what the reasons are, but
00:20
it doesn't seem that the solution has been found and the work has been done to prevent
00:26
it.
00:27
The last two times, one of our members who lives in the house above the other side of
00:32
the station literally could not get home.
00:36
She was flooded, she works in Ellesmere, she couldn't get back to here to get home.
00:41
But all of us are finding it very difficult in the clear up for people and the signs that
00:48
go up to say the road is shut go a bit late.
00:53
The people in the pub, Donna, has been so supportive, so helpful and has got permission
00:58
to be able to close the area quickly because once it starts it rushes all the way down,
01:05
all the way past the house there and then turns right and then gushes down.
01:10
It affects all the businesses here.
01:13
It affects the transport and the travel from Shrewsbury and Wrexham.
01:21
The station is closed.
01:22
It's like a canal.
01:23
It's a canal you've just got in and it's becoming very, very difficult for people's
01:28
ordinary everyday business life and home life to deal with it.
01:33
It's been severely affected twice in the last month.
01:38
I've lived in the village over 40 years, they've had flooding and it's just got progressively
01:44
worse.
01:45
This is the worst I've ever seen.
01:47
I think the frustration of us all being aware of what the difficulty is and what the problem
01:52
is and I think Helen Morgan is going to come down and have a look and point out what is
01:57
one of the main problems and it's the fact that people in powers or people who are aware
02:03
of it haven't actually done anything to resolve the issue.
