00:28That is not a joke.

00:30It is not an onion headline.

00:33It is a legitimate story and now an official hire.

00:38Bill Belichick will be the next head football coach at the University of North Carolina.

00:44The 72 year old Belichick, who has won the most Super Bowls as a head coach in the history

00:50of the National Football League, six Lombardi trophies to be exact, is now going to coach

00:57in college for the first time ever, never even worked as an assistant or anything in

01:04the collegiate ranks up until this past season, DRS, when he parted ways with New England

01:10at the end of 2023.

01:12He had been working in some capacity in the NFL since 1975 and now for the first time

01:19ever at 72 years old, Bill Belichick is headed back to school.

01:25Wild.

01:26It is a wild turnaround for one of the best coaches we've ever seen in any professional

01:30sport in North American history.

01:32Basically, it shunned by the NFL last year, last year, interviewing for teams, didn't

01:36get any jobs.

01:37You figured he'd just sit out, pick whatever job he wanted to, to come back to the NFL.

01:41And then we got that glimpse of Bill Belichick just interviewed for North Carolina is just

01:45trying to practice like what a, you know, I'm going to get back on this level, but I

01:49just want to see like what college is doing.

01:50Then eventually I'll just go back to the pros.

01:52And here we are accepting a job with UNC.

01:55Here's the question that I'm going to have in professional sports.

01:59You have contracts, Ben, right?

02:00And the Patriot way, we heard about it so many times, the things I get a big kick out

02:03of are like the teams, like the Green Bay Packers and the New England Patriots always

02:07told you don't do anything in free agency.

02:09It's a waste of time.

02:10Just went through the draft.

02:11What you get Tom Brady, you can make 15,000 errors in the draft and free agency.

02:15It doesn't matter.

02:16He covers it up.

02:17And for so many times, you know, the Green Bay Packers just saying, we're not going to

02:19spend any money free agency because we have Aaron Rodgers.

02:22The reason I bring that up is for the Patriots.

02:24If you draft a player, you basically have them, Ben.

02:27First round picks for five years, second round picks and on for like four years at that point

02:30where you are forced to buy in to the Patriot way, whether you like it or not.

02:35My way or the highway, you don't want to play.

02:37I'll just sit you on the bench and to eventually want to quit football.

02:40You can't do that at the college football landscape.

02:42And also the Patriot way.

02:43A lot of was, yes, you're going to learn how to win and how to be a New England Patriot.

02:47But also, you know what you're going to do?

02:48Not have any fun doing it.

02:49And it's going to be a job.

02:50It's not fun out here.

02:52We're going to win and winning is not fun.

02:54We've heard that in so many football movies in the past.

02:56So how does he translate from being a curmudgeon in the NFL, my way or the highway?

03:02Go to college with 18 year olds that show up on campus day three and go, this isn't

03:06for me.

03:07I'm just going to transfer out.

03:10That's what I'm most interested in, because if it works, you could look at the changing

03:14of the landscape officially from professional football to college football and changing

03:18that mindset.

03:19And if it doesn't work, it feels like the Sean Watson contract in the NFL.

03:23Nobody's going to go down this path ever again in NCAA.

03:26Look, if Bill could make it work, none of you old timers can make it work.
