00:12this pursuit of how this shook out that should be encouraging.

00:16Number one, back in August, Craig Breslow has this idea, said, hey, let's take a stab

00:22at Juan Soto.

00:24It shows you that the ownership is on board with listening to Craig Breslow.

00:28It shows you that they're on board with being more aggressive, and let's make no mistake

00:32about it.

00:33They were on Juan Soto.

00:34They were in on this.

00:36This wasn't just driving the price up.

00:38This wasn't just we're doing a show.

00:41No.

00:42You commit to offering a guy $700 million, it is something.

00:47There is that.

00:48There is getting back in that pool, which you haven't been in in a long, long time,

00:52so there's that to still hang your hat on.

00:58I think that overall, what they have to do, I give them a B- because you're fine.

01:08You wanted Boris to give an offer that they're going to have to beat, and he wouldn't give

01:11them to because he knew he had the Mets and the Yankees sitting there, so he didn't have

01:15to be desperate.

01:17They were trying to do what they could do, and at the end of the day, they weren't able

01:21to do it.

01:22Fine.

01:23To me, that's not the issue here.

01:24To me, this isn't why you can't give them an A-plus for anything because you have to

01:30now do what the most important thing is.

01:33You lost out on the guy that I put at 20%, and I think that was probably a pretty good

01:38number in terms of the odds of them getting him, but now you actually have to do what

01:43you haven't done in the last few years, which has been the absolute dagger for them, which

01:48is win bidding wars.

01:50Get uncomfortable.

01:52Believe it or not, giving $700 million isn't as uncomfortable to them as it will be when

01:59they get the price tag on Max Fried or Alex Bregman or whoever, or Teostra Hernandez.

02:07Now we find out exactly what their approach is when it comes to being more aggressive,

02:13being more decisive, and actually changing the narrative because you aren't getting any

02:17of these guys unless you change the approach.
