Coffee catch-up: Shakespeare and Sports

For this week’s catch up, we have a hot drink from Bird and Blend, and stories from a newly-renovated pub, Didsbury and the two major Manchester football teams.

00:00Hello and welcome to Coffee Catch-Up. Today I've been out to Bird & Blend to get a tea

00:03rather than a coffee. I treat myself to a sort of salted caramel tea situation. Now

00:08let's get into the stories that our team have put out over the weekend. We'll start with

00:11the news and the indefatigable Patrick Hollis who was very busy at the end of last week

00:15and took himself around Greater Manchester to try out a few spots. The Shakespeare was

00:18one of those spots, a wonderful city centre pub that's only recently reopened after renovation.

00:23They're offering a festive menu to celebrate the Christmas period and so there was some

00:25sampling of food and it's great to hear that the refurb has had only positive effects on

00:29the atmosphere at the pub. Patrick also made it to Didsbury, the happiest place to live

00:33in Manchester and spent an afternoon milling around there to see how his mood was affected.

00:37Suffice it to say I've not seen him without a smile on his face since. Over to sport and

00:41Rich Fay has done a piece on Andrea Berta, the man tipped to replace Dan Ashworth as

00:44Manchester United's sporting director. Ashworth left the role after only five months so there

00:48is pressure on this appointment. Finally, Michael Plant has been relentlessly covering

00:52the mess that is Manchester City. With Pep seeming to lose his cool and his team certainly

00:56losing games, it's almost certainly the biggest on-pitch crisis for the club in a long time.
