Good evening and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Weather continuing
00:04
to quiet down as we head through this evening, and that's thanks to the area of high pressure
00:08
situated across the northern half of the country. But still, with a squeeze of ice across the
00:13
south, be fairly breezy at first. But as the high pressure begins to take dominance, things
00:17
settling down as we head towards the later half of the week. But back to this evening,
00:21
very much a northwest southeast split across the country, clear skies and cold conditions
00:25
across Northern Ireland and Scotland, but cloudy with stronger winds and also a fair
00:31
frequent showers moving into the southeast, particularly parts of Kent, seeing quite a
00:34
few showers overnight, seeing a fairly damp evening here. Temperature is going to be widely
00:39
starting the day in the single figures across the southern half of the country, around four
00:43
to six degrees further north across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Underneath those clear
00:48
skies, we will see temperatures falling away. Widespread frost expected here and also fog
00:53
patches, particularly for the south and western parts of Northern Ireland and central belt
00:58
of Scotland. So could just see some difficult driving conditions as we head through the
01:03
morning rush hour. But where that fog does clear, it's going to be a dry and bright start
01:08
to the day for Northern Ireland and Scotland. Further north, though, we do start to see
01:11
things turning a bit wet and windier as a frontal system approaches into Shetland and
01:16
Orkney later. But further south, holding onto a very cloudy picture, do you see those showers
01:21
beginning to die away as that high pressure continues to take dominance? But it will still
01:25
be fairly breezy and over the high ground, particularly to the lee of the Pennines. And
01:29
in southwest Wales, there still will be a fairly gusty conditions. Showers also still
01:34
feeding in, particularly to parts of south east in England and parts of Kent, but elsewhere
01:39
a generally dry picture with a few brighter spells in the mix. Temperatures again is still
01:44
going to be fairly cool, so temperatures at best around six to eight across the southern
01:47
half of the UK. But for Northern Ireland and Scotland, it'll be staying cool during
01:51
the day temperatures at best into the low single figures and could still stay freezing
01:55
in a few rural spots as well. And some of these fog patches could just be stubborn enough
02:00
to be lingering here into the afternoon in a few spots as well. Heading through Tuesday
02:06
evening, then so that area of rain does continue to push across the northern isles for Shetland
02:10
and Orkney. But still, we're holding on to clear skies for most of Scotland and Northern
02:14
Ireland, leading to frost and fog formation again here. But cloudy conditions continue
02:19
across the rest of the UK, and those showers continue to get a little bit lighter. With
02:24
that, we're going to see temperatures around four or five degrees, maybe a touch cooler
02:28
across the far south of the country on Wednesday morning. But it's still going to be a very
02:32
cool and frosty start to the day for Northern Ireland and Scotland. They'll be particularly
02:36
this morning on Wednesday, where on western and southwestern parts of Northern Ireland
02:41
and the central and south and southern part of Scotland could see some frost and freezing
02:46
fog again. Further north, though, across parts of Shetland and Orkney, it'll be another damp
02:50
start to the day and temperatures a touch milder here and not so much in the way of
02:54
frost or fog. Heading through the rest of the day on Wednesday, so for the northern
02:59
isles staying with that frontal system and going to be a fairly damp day, but plenty
03:03
of sunshine and cool, bright conditions for parts of Scotland where that fog does clear
03:08
as we head through the day and further south at high pressure beginning to take further
03:12
dominance. So we do start to see a few brighter spells in the mix. But again, we're still
03:17
holding on to some showers across the southern half of the UK as well. Temperatures at best
03:21
around six or eight degrees. And again, for Northern Ireland and for parts of Scotland
03:25
could still be staying freezing throughout the day as we head in towards the afternoon.
03:29
And again, those fog and those frog patches could last into the afternoon in some of these
03:34
spots as well. So just one to keep your eye on. Heading through the evening then. So again,
03:40
a similar picture, clear spells developing across parts of Scotland. But as we move into
03:45
Thursday, we will start to see this pushing in in towards Thursday morning. So if you
03:50
