00:00We're kicking off the work week with BTV News Now and tops in our stories this afternoon.

00:07Less than a couple of hours ago, the unpredictable Mount Kalaon in Negros, Occidental Province,

00:12just went off, shooting volcanic ash and debris some three kilometers into the air for about

00:18seven minutes.

00:19As a result of this latest rumbling from restive Mount Kalaon, the alert signal in the volcano

00:26and its surroundings has been raised to Level 3, indicating more and greater magmatic unrest

00:32inside the volcano and potential discharges or eruptions.

00:36Hence, the danger zone has been expanded to cover a six-kilometer radius from the volcano's

00:42summit for immediate evacuation, and LGUs are advised to prep for added evacuations

00:48if the status worsens.

00:53Meanwhile, state-run People's Television Network, the People's Television or PTV, has taken

01:00one more step in broadening its nationwide scope for news and public affairs broadcasting.

01:05The launching of its latest provincial station in Cotabato Province before the year comes

01:10to a close.

01:11Tomorrow's inauguration of the latest PTV station in Mindanao will serve and provide

01:17to the up-to-the-minute news broadcasts of the latest events and public affairs programs

01:22at the national, regional and provincial levels to fill the people in on the Soksarjen region

01:28and elsewhere.

01:29PTV Cotabato is the state-run network's 33rd station nationwide.

01:38It is one of President Joe Biden's last gala functions to punctuate his single-term

01:43slash transition presidency, the 2024 Kennedy Center Honor Awards Night.

01:50The Black Tie Affair, one of the most prestigious and glamorous events of recognizing the best

01:55of America's iconic talents in the performing arts and their distinguished careers, gathers

02:02Washington, D.C.'s political elite and Hollywood A-listers for a night to honor the awardees

02:09and raise funds for the Center's endowment activities in honor of the late President

02:14John F. Kennedy.

02:16This year's awardees include three surviving members of the cult band The Grateful Dead,

02:21Cuban-born and jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and Grammy Award winner and blues guitar player

02:28and vocalist Bonnie Raitt.

02:30But the night's main draw and awardee, the legendary film director Francis Ford Coppola,

02:36who directed Apocalypse Now and the classic trilogy series The Godfather.

02:40An interesting honoree this year is the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York City, which

02:46has been the venue for the discovery and launching pad of so many great musical careers and entertainment

02:52talents, and where dreams of making it big also die.

02:57President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, along with Vice President Kamala Harris and

03:02Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, sat with the honorees in the balcony and received a rousing

03:08ovation from all in attendance, this being their last ever Kennedy Center Awards Gala.
