PNG's passion for rugby league continues to grow

Papua New Guinea's prime minister has confirmed he expects his nation's entry to the NRL to get the green light on Thursday, as officials prepare to turn a pipeline dream into a bona fide rugby league club. The announcement of PNG's entry will mark the culmination of two years of talks between the nations' hierarchies and the NRL, with the bid propped up by $600 million of Australian government assistance. 00:12getting that professional training a lot more so, yeah, it's just good to see that we've

00:17got lots of players available for the Kummels and it's good to see that coaches are getting

00:22the headache to pick, who to pick for the Kummels team so, yeah, it's been a long time

00:30but it's good that we're getting that growth now.

00:32In PNG we've got so much talent running around that, you know, the coaches over there are

00:37working hard to get into a system somewhere and every year we come into camp there's two

00:42or three new boys that have had a great year with the Hunters and get their opportunity

00:47to play on the Kummels and, yeah, it's just good to see that there's so much talent over

00:52there and they just need their opportunity.
