A heart-warming video, created by a Co Armagh community group, has been hugely applauded for its reassuring message for the elderly this Christmas.

00:00Christmas used to be such a joyous time, but now it feels so quiet, too quiet.

00:07It's just me and my cup of tea these days.

00:12I hear the laughter and footsteps outside, the young ones running about.

00:17Sometimes it frightens me and I'm not sure why.

00:21Maybe it's the loneliness that makes everything seem bigger and scarier.

00:27Then tonight there was a knock at the door.

00:30I froze. Who could it be at this hour?

00:34I couldn't bring myself to answer, not the first time, nor the second.

00:39But the knocking came again, persistent and then silent.

00:45When I finally opened the door they were gone, but there it was,

00:49a handmade gift with a little note that read,

00:53My hands trembled as I picked it up, such a simple thing,

00:57but warmed my heart in a way I hadn't felt in years.

01:02I knew I couldn't stay in, I just had to say thank you,

01:06so I made my way to the community house.

01:09And there they were, people just like me and unlike me working together.
