Former EU justice chief Didier Reynders suspected of money laundering

Belgian police raided several properties linked to former European Commissioner for Justice for alleged fraud, Follow the Money and Belgian newspaper Le Soir reported.

00:12For years, Reyndiers reportedly bought lottery tickets through the Belgian National Lottery,

00:18an organization which he oversaw as minister between 2007 and 2011.

00:25It is alleged that he took part in lottery games and deposited the resulting, now laundered profits into his personal accounts.

00:34Local media report that the investigation had been ongoing for months,

00:39that investigators waited until the end of Reyndiers' term as European Commissioner on Sunday,

00:44which also marked the end of his EU immunity.

00:48One of the properties reportedly raided was Reyndiers' private property,

00:52with the former EU Justice Chief questioned by police until Tuesday evening.
