00:00If last year all we were missing was a really good quarterback who could play possibly top

00:09ten, top five-ish, what's holding the Jets back?

00:13Defense is spectacular.

00:14The front seven is electric.

00:16The back four can certainly defend.

00:18Sauce Gardner, one of the best in the NFL coverage.

00:22What could happen there?

00:23The offense who just couldn't find a pulse because they had nothing at quarterback.

00:28And I said, Donnie, this year you're getting Aaron Rodgers.

00:33And I don't need MVP Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers.

00:36I just need really solid quarterback play from Aaron Rodgers.

00:41Last year, as you know, it went down, injured a couple plays into the season.

00:44That was a lost cause.

00:45But coming into the season, I was buying into the hype.

00:47I thought up in Florham Park they had what it takes to win a division and be really good

00:53entering into the playoffs.

00:55Now we sit here looking at the New York Jets as an abomination.

01:00Fired their head coach.

01:01Now fired their general manager on top of that.

01:05And if we are being fair, it had to happen.

01:09If you're a general manager and your record is horrendous, you're going to get fired.

01:13Same thing with the head coach.

01:14Now, Robert Sala wasn't really a horrendous head coach with a bad record.

01:18They just wanted to see if they can light a spark under the team by getting rid of him.

01:22Getting Jeff Albrecht there, too, from assistant coach to head coach, that's been a disaster.

01:27You saw how the season started.

01:28You knew right off the bat that the New York Jets taking on the San Francisco 49ers on

01:32the opening Monday night of the season was going to be a problem.

01:36Aaron Rodgers coming back for the first time.

01:38How would he actually be?

01:40Well, they weren't good and they got hammered night one.

01:43Okay, no big deal.

01:44On the road week number two against the Tennessee Titans team that had blew the game the week

01:47before against the Chicago Bears.

01:49They righted the ship there.

01:51Then they had the Patriots at home and embarrassed the Patriots, who still had Jacoby Brissett

01:54at quarterback, and they sat at 2-1 on the season, rightfully so.

01:58Expectations were a loss to the 49ers and back-to-back wins, they got that.

02:02But then they played the Broncos at home the following week, some windy conditions, a little

02:06bit rainy.

02:07They were pathetic.

02:08They couldn't make kicks and they couldn't make plays and they lost 10-9.

02:11Ah, still early in the season, 2-2, no big deal.

02:15Aaron Rodgers was abysmal against the Vikings the following week, throwing three interceptions,

02:19including a pick six, they lost that game.

02:22They came home and take on the Buffalo Bills, should have won that game.

02:24They couldn't make any kicks in that game, they lose 23-17.

02:28Then they play the Pittsburgh Steelers and have a 15-6 lead before they got hammered

02:3137-15.

02:32Then it's like, okay, well, they get the Patriots, that's a layup on the road.

02:36You lost that game too.

02:38I sat here on the network on a Thursday football game against the Texans and told you the Jets

02:43were the right play there.

02:44Then they won 21-13, hey, season saved after five straight losses, only to absolutely embarrass

02:51themselves against the Arizona Cardinals in that 31-6 loss, which quite frankly could

02:56have been 66-6 in that loss.

03:00Then they had the Colts, which I liked the Colts getting the 4.5, Joe Lisi, Kevin agreed

03:04with me as well on the set.

03:05Also had a team total in the Colts in that game to go over 19.5, they did that by scoring

03:1028.

03:11You still had a lead late in that game and you couldn't get a stop.

03:13Case in point on the season, when we talk about football coming down to as a game of

03:18inches, it really is.

03:20The Jets actually could have been having a quality season, but something is amiss.

03:24It's just not a winning organization.

03:26They're not used to making the playoffs.

03:28Aaron Rodgers coming over and missing that last year, you thought he might have a little

03:31bit more left in the tank, 17 touchdowns, seven interceptions.

03:35Not terrible, but you watch the game with your eyes sometimes, right?

03:40Forget about the statistics.

03:42He just doesn't look like he makes enough plays and leaves too many plays out there.

03:46And if you get any pressure on him, do you remember his Green Bay days?

03:49Boy, he was so good at manipulating the pocket.

03:51Aaron Rodgers is one of the best we've ever seen at a pass rush coming down, sideswipe

03:55a guy and throw a laser beam at the flick of a wrist for 15 to 20 yards on a gain on

04:00third and seven.

04:01He did that repeatedly, made him one of the best quarterbacks we've ever seen all time.

04:05He can't do it anymore.

04:07He just can't do it anymore.

04:08So now you line up and say, all right, we're going to take a breather here before we take

04:11on the Seahawks at home.

04:12The season is a wrap, but where do the jets go from here?

04:16I don't know.
