00:31In fact, she plans to add different Christmas lights outside her shop.

00:38But it seems like this is an exchange to know that Meralko has an increase in electricity bill this month of November.

00:47According to Meralko's announcement, the increase in electricity bill is 43 cents per kilowatt hour this month.

00:54For example, if a house consumes 200 kilowatt hours, the bill will be 85 pesos per month.

01:03Meralko explains that this is because of the decrease in the exchange rate of pesos and dollars.

01:08Dollars are used by companies of Meralko's power plant generators

01:14such as Independent Power Procedures or IPP, Power Supply Agreement or PSA,

01:20and Wholesale Electricity Spot Market or WESEM.

01:23National Grid Corporation of the Philippines or NGCP is one of the places where the transmission charges go.

01:31Many of the cost of our generators are dollar-denominated, especially the fuel cost.

01:36Because the fuel is imported, and even if it's Malampaya, even though it's indigenous, it is priced in dollars.

01:44So every time the exchange rate goes down, the price goes up in terms of the local currency.

01:52Because of this, the generation and transmission charges are affected,

01:56which are paid by Meralko's customers every month.

01:59That's why, because it's the holiday season, Meralko has an agreement to save on electricity.

02:05As for Christmas lights, if we don't use them, obviously, we should throw them away, right?

02:10Let's not use them.

02:13If Christmas lights are to be recycled, it should be tested to see if it is damaged.

02:19And if you're going to buy a new one, it should be tested to see if the quality is good,

02:23so that it won't be burned and can also save on electricity.

02:26If we don't know that the quality of the Christmas lights is poor, it might cause accidents.

02:34And if we leave the house, many people are on vacation, make sure all your appliances are unplugged.

02:40It should also be tested to see if the Christmas lights are for indoor or outdoor use,

02:49Meralko also said that although there is an increase in electricity consumption,

02:54this is the lowest level of electricity consumption because it's the winter season.
