With councils all across Wales facing millions of pounds worth of funding gaps, we ask the people of Cardiff whether they think local councils are being irresponsible with their money, and how they would like it to be sorted in the near future.
Transcript
00:00The council where I live are good, because they've just built a skate park for the community and stuff, so there's a lot going on there.
00:07They're involved in the community and stuff, and we've got a nice community centre.
00:12Yeah, so the council where I live is pretty good.
00:16Yeah, you wish the councils would spend money a little bit better.
00:19It does seem that a lot of money gets poured into things that don't actually affect people's day-to-day lives,
00:23but also I don't see behind the scenes, so I can't speak to that.
00:26But yeah, I would perhaps like to see maybe some reduced salaries, maybe some reduced waste,
00:31and actually put that money where people can actually see the impact of their council tax.
00:35Yeah, but there's a lot of children's services that are not getting the monies that they probably should be getting.
00:39There's lots of cutbacks, and sometimes we need to prioritise what is the most important things for our communities.
00:46Do we spend something in the short term or the long term, and that sort of thing.
00:49So that's something that they've got to work out.
00:51Do they invest in something now to prevent the problems that we've got in the future?
00:55I think that's the juggling up that the politicians and the councils have got to sort themselves out.
