Friends and family of American tourist killed in Budapest hold vigil, suspect in custody

31-year-old Mackenzie Michalski from Portland, Oregon, was reported missing on 5 November after she was last seen at a nightclub in central Budapest.

00:18Police launched a missing persons investigation and reviewed security footage from local nightclubs.

00:24They saw Mikalski with a man later identified as the suspect in several of the clubs the

00:29night of her disappearance.

00:33Police detained the man, a 37-year-old Irish citizen, on 7 November.

00:38He later confessed to the killing but said it had been an accident.

00:42The man is currently in custody with authorities initiating formal charges against him for

00:47murder.

00:49Budapest Metropolitan Police say the investigation into Mikalski's death is ongoing.
