Hephner the alpaca comforts palliative care residents

He made headlines around the country after stopping the King with a sneeze in Canberra last month. Hephner the alpaca invited us to follow him around for a day in his life.

00:00The sneeze was something a bit out of character, like when we're standing in the line I'll

00:09often play with his lip and it doesn't seem to bother him but just at that moment he sneezed.

00:15I don't know why it happened but yeah it happened.

00:17Look it didn't really worry me that much, you being a sneeze, because look had it been

00:20a spit, totally different story, he would have been taking the suit jacket off.

00:25There's so many people that he's met and yeah the King unfortunately probably tops the list

00:30for me.

00:31So we've just come here today to visit the residents of Clare Holland House, so it's

00:35something that we try and get to do every couple of weeks.

00:39And I think it's a bit of a distraction for them and the families while I'm here and yeah

00:44like I said it's just something that I enjoy doing and you know even going into the nursing

00:48homes and visiting the old is that you know I might not have visitors.

00:52You're wrecking the place, Efna.

00:56And like I said we've got some at home that are nowhere near as quiet as what he is and

01:01while ever I've got the lead on him he's happy to follow me into elevators or do whatever

01:05I ask him to do.

01:06In my eyes he is, I think just with what he's done over the years certainly I think he's

01:11a bit of a celebrity.
