00:00Some newcomers to the city may think that Bangkok has low to no homeless people,

00:04but I'm telling you that it's not true, and these are insights about unsheltered people in Bangkok.

00:10According to research conducted in May 2023, there are 2,499 unsheltered people living in Thailand and 1,271 living in Bangkok.

00:20The main reason for homelessness is unemployment and job dismissal, followed by family problems.

00:25Most common age range is 45 to 55 years old.

00:28There is an increasing rate in elder homelessness and new faces of unsheltered people.

00:34Some have averaged monthly income around 1,500 baht from some sort of employment.

00:39Moreover, 17.9% have mental health problems and 18.1% are dealing with alcohol addiction.

00:47Thai Health Promotion Foundation, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security,

00:51and network partners are working to help alleviate the problem.
