The U.S. Election and how it impacts us

With the election across the pond set to be decided over the next few days, here is how it could affect the British people.

00:00The United States is about to elect a new president, but for people in the UK specifically,

00:04our government and that of the USA have always had a special relationship, meaning our goals

00:08are often aligned and our approaches to foreign policy are often similar.

00:11Now the reason that this election in particular is so important is because of what the success

00:15of Trump would mean for the UK.

00:17It's pretty clear already that he and Stalmer won't be the best of friends, but more importantly

00:20than that, the suggestion from the Trump camp is that he would pull funding from the war

00:23in Ukraine, allowing Russia car plans to ravage the region.

00:26Kamala Harris is his opponent and represents something close to a continuation of the Biden

00:30administration, which has had its fair share of criticism but will be a bit more of a continuation

00:34of the classic style of democracy for the US, whereas Trump is campaigning behind something

00:38called Project 2025, which essentially bring all independent branches of the US government

00:42under his direct control.

00:44That removes any chance of people interfering with the Trump administration's stated goals

00:48of controlling the accessibility of books in schools, limiting the sale of abortion

00:51pills, removing words relating to homosexuality from any form of education.

00:55It will certainly be a substantial change for the USA, but we'll find out which way

00:58they've voted in the next couple of days.
