00:00Eastern Visayas will not be left behind in the Philippines' goal to become the Tourism Powerhouse of Asia.

00:07This is after an international cruise ship passed through different regions.

00:12This is Reian Arinto of PIA in Balitang Pambansa.

00:18The Philippines once again proved that it is one of the best cruise destinations in the world

00:24after the Coral Geographer,

00:28an Australian cruise ship.

00:31Led by 40 tourists from Australia, America, and New Zealand,

00:36the Coral Geographer visited Biri Island, Northern Samar, Mahaba and Digiu Islands in Leyte,

00:42and Higatangan, Maripipi, and Sambawan Islands in Biliran.

00:46According to the Department of Tourism, Eastern Visayas Regional Director, Karina Rosa-Tiopes,

00:51the arrival of the cruise ship in the region is a great help to the economy.

00:56This is what we want to happen to different destinations in Eastern Visayas

01:01that are not yet visited.

01:04We introduce sustainable tourism, we bring in quality visitors,

01:08and ultimately, the people they see, they hear stories about this visit,

01:16the visits in this island, starting with cruise visitors,

01:20our hope is that they will also go there.

01:25Tiopes added that the arrival of cruise ships is a reminder

01:29that the tourism powerhouse of Asia, the Philippines, is already being implemented.

01:35We are really thankful to our President, Colonel Bongbong Marcos,

01:40because he really gave the right and adequate support to the tourism industry of the Philippines.

01:47Our Secretary of Tourism, Secretary Cristina Frasco,

01:51also emphasized that her main policy now is to have inclusive tourism.

01:57The experience of the tourists after stopping at every place where they can see

02:04the unique culture, tradition, food, and lively life of the islanders.

02:10Mayor Gretchen Stephanie Espina of Naval, Biliran,

02:14that their island was chosen by international tourists.

02:18It's just a matter of packaging, how we can show it to the whole world

02:24so that they can love our true culture of the Filipinos.
