00:30Aside from the excellent performance of the Philippine Dragon Boat Team,

00:35the World Championships were also a success this year

00:38because it was the first time it was held in the country and in Southeast Asia.

00:44In a presentation of PTV Sports to International Canoe Federation President Thomas Konietzko,

00:50he evaluated the country's hosting of the biggest Dragon Boat Race event this year.

00:57It is not only the biggest Dragon Boat World Championship ever,

01:01I can already say today it's one of the best organized Dragon Boat World Championship ever.

01:07Congratulations to the Philippine Canoe Association and to the city of Puerto Princesa.

01:14Such good conditions in a so special, beautiful environment and all the teams,

01:19and that is most important, enjoy the special mood, atmosphere and the special environment.

01:24Konietzko also emphasized that the hosting of the World Championships

01:30is a big help for the Dragon Boat Racing to be included in the Olympics.

01:34Dragon Boat Racing became a demonstration sport during the 2024 Paris Olympics,

01:40but it will not be included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

01:44It's a long way to become an Olympic sport,

01:47and the program for LA28 was already confirmed last year,

01:51so Dragon Boat will not become an Olympic sport 2028,

01:55and it is still a long way.

01:57But with this World Championship here and the quality of the competition,

02:02I think we can come a little bit closer to become one day an Olympic sport.

02:06We have to continue on this way, and then I'm very confident.
