Four people, including minors, were injured in a violent axe attack on a train near Paris,
00:07
according to French media reports citing police sources.
00:11
One victim reportedly had their hand severed while another had their skull split open.
00:16
The two others were less seriously injured.
00:19
They were hurt after a fight broke out aboard the French train line in the morning.
00:25
What is shocking is that it happened at 8 a.m.
00:28
It was the day of the school return, since we had just spent 15 days on holiday.
00:31
That means that they had perhaps made an appointment there.
00:34
So what is really shocking about this is that it could be assumed
00:39
that they were going to their school with weapons.
00:46
The state rail operator said because the train was halted at the station at the time of the incident,
00:53
the violence did not affect traffic on the line.

Authorities in Aldaya, in Spain's Valencia region, say rescue and search operations are
01:07
continuing on Monday following the aftermath of last week's catastrophic flood.
01:13
Emergency services say they searched the Bonaire shopping centre and pumped water out of its
01:18
underground car park.
01:21
According to firefighters, the car park had been filled with 260,000 cubic metres of water
01:26
from the flooding.
01:28
Early on Sunday, military personnel joined residents to clear some streets of mud and
01:33
wreckage amidst the response.
01:36
Meanwhile, emergency services in the Spanish capital, Madrid, ramped up efforts over the
01:43
weekend to help residents affected by the deadly flash flood in Valencia.
01:51
Separate it by categories, separate it by groups.
01:53
On one side we put the pasta, on the other the rice, cans, baby food, so that when they
01:58
arrive at their destination, they don't have to start looking, but have a very clear idea
02:01
of what's in each box to make a much more effective delivery.
02:05
Valencia was among the areas worst affected by the devastating floods that hit several
02:10
regions in Spain.
02:12
Authorities have recovered 217 bodies so far, with 213 of them in the eastern Valencia region.
02:21
Catastrophic flooding continues in Spain, with Barcelona airport and the surroundings
02:29
the latest area to be affected.
02:32
Videos have been shared on social media of water pouring into a terminal at Barcelona
02:38
airport.
02:39
So far, 70 flights have been cancelled and 17 have been diverted to other airports after
02:46
the rain started this morning.
02:51
Moldova's pro-western president, Maya Sandu, has won a second term in a pivotal presidential
03:04
run-off on Sunday.
03:06
Sandu took more than 55% of the vote in an election overshadowed by claims of interference.
03:13
Moldova was under an unprecedented attack in the history of the whole of Europe.
03:18
Dirty money, illegal voting, involvement in the electoral processes of hostile forces
03:26
from outside the country and of criminal groups, lies, inducing hatred and affliction in our society.
03:34
Our people have united, and the freedom and the citizens have won.
03:41
Sandu's challenger was the Russia-friendly former Prosecutor General Alexander Stoyanoglu,
03:45
who finished well behind her with just under 45%.
03:50
Moldovan police said on Sunday they had reasonable evidence of organized transportation of voters
03:56
illegal under the country's electoral code to polling stations.
04:00
And the foreign ministry said polling stations in Germany and the UK had been targeted by
04:05
false bomb threats intended to stop the voting process.
04:09
In the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Moldova applied to join the European Union.
04:15
It was granted candidate status in June of that year, and in summer this year, Brussels
04:20
agreed to start membership negotiations.
04:23
The shift to the West annoyed Moscow, but it denies meddling in the election.
04:33
Protesters in Belgrade have demanded the arrest of officials just days after a concrete canopy
04:38
collapsed at a railway station, killing 14 people and injuring three.
04:42
Police formed a cordon outside the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure as several
04:47
thousand people called for ranking government ministers, including the prime minister, to step down.
05:01
The concrete canopy that ran along the front of the railway station in the northern city
05:05
of Novi Sad collapsed suddenly on Friday.
05:08
Fourteen people were killed, including a six-year-old girl.
05:12
The three injured, who were between 18 and 24 years old, all had to have limbs amputated.
05:18
The train station has been renovated twice in recent years, and critics of Serbia's government
05:23
attributed the disaster to rampant corruption, lack of transparency and sloppy renovations.
05:29
Serbia's government has promised a thorough investigation, with prosecutors saying they've
05:33
already questioned more than two dozen people.
05:36
But critics believe that justice is unlikely to be served with the government in control
05:40
of the judicial system and the police.
05:46
Wincey Jones, the music producer and composer who worked with Michael Jackson and Frank
05:51
Sinatra, has died at age 91.
05:54
His legacy ranged from producing Jackson's historic Thriller album to collaborating with
06:00
Ray Charles and hundreds of other recording artists.
06:04
Jones' career spread over 70 years, winning 28 Grammy Awards and being one of the first
06:09
black executives to thrive in Hollywood.
06:12
He was named one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century by Time magazine.
