00:06covers the cults for The Athletic was speaking with Nelson about how he's gone

00:10to bat for Anthony Richardson over his career. Here's Quentin Nelson's response.

00:13Went to bat for the guy multiple times this year. Yeah and I still do. It's just

00:20like a crazy situation and still have a bunch of faith in AR and know that when

00:25he gets his next opportunity that he's gonna do well. I still think that there

00:33was a lot of things good he did when playing. He did a great job escaping

00:39pressure, evading sacks and he also had some some good throws too. So yeah. Were

00:48you surprised by the decision at all? Yeah I was surprised. Now the reality is

00:54here on the desk we couldn't hear the video. What I will say again the kind of

01:00standout thing there is him just saying it's it's a crazy situation as a bunch

01:06of bunch of faith in AR and went on to say Donnie I know that when he gets his

01:10next opportunity he's gonna do well which speaks to kind of your wonder of

01:14will Richardson get back out there but how does Richardson get out there

01:18without Flacco failing? I don't see I think one has to happen for the other to

01:23that is gonna happen there because it's not as if say look we just want to cool

01:25him down Flacco ripped off three in a row now we're leading the division and

01:28maybe get the number one overall see in the AFC now it's time to go back to our

01:31quarterback who still is basically in his rookie I don't think that's gonna be

01:34the case now and I also don't think it's gonna be hey well we can fit this

01:38quarterback in like I always tell you about the Cam Newtons of the world the

01:40Justin Fields let's put him in a red zone action no he's either your starter

01:43he's not your starter at this age at this point but I do think sooner or later

01:48the you know let's just say the the slipper is going to break on Joe Flacco

01:52he's not gonna run off 10 straight victories and be dominant he's been a

01:55really good guy that you know what if I need you in a couple spots starts to

01:58revive a team that's dead on offense he can do that I'm still worried about can

02:02Joe Flacco at this age Joe be the centerpiece of that offense stay healthy

02:06and be dominant the rest of the way I don't think so yeah well think about

02:08what happened when he did start the playoff game against Houston right they

02:12got boat raced in that matchup so again the slipper did fall off they got to a

02:16certain point and then they plateaued and capped out now for granted that

02:19defense was not the same at the end of last season for Cleveland as well but

02:24that was a huge party was you know not the same quarterback up until that point

02:28in that game against CJ Stroud but he did throw for 300 in the loss to

02:32Jacksonville right he threw for over 300 that's what they're seeing the offense

02:38alignment always have the quarterbacks back right they should right especially

02:42in that match a backup starter and I understand that that Nelson had said a

02:47or you know he wishes him the best he'll get another opportunity I just believe

02:51that and I look at it from the head coaching perspective right you have a

02:55head coach that took Jalen Hurts to the Super Bowl if he right was a little

03:01inconsistent at that point he either it's his call or up above maybe the

03:07owner upper management somebody made the call the GM and said hey this change

03:11needs to be done give it a break for a couple of weeks and then regroup so

03:15Michael Pittman right let people know that he found out via social media

03:19that's how we found out that the quarterback room was being changed so

03:22again what either James Thighton is now running a sloppy operation which I doubt

03:27you doubt you love him so do I so all I am saying is it should not be that hard

03:34for people to think that Jimmy or say stepped in and forced the decision that

03:37that this ultimately Indianapolis Colts team isn't necessarily behind because he

03:41feels that that's gonna get them a chance to get to the to the playoffs but

03:44what I want to know is if he goes out there and struggles against this Vikings

03:48defense we've seen a Stroud Purdy get give hell are we breaking down

03:52Richardson next week against the Buffalo Bills like what is the this look like
