00:00This is Jerry Jones and his playbook to a T welcoming in the drama each and every summer
00:06each and every offseason even as training camp begins at the camp home of the Dallas Cowboys
00:12out in Southern California in Oxnard yesterday DRS of course the owner of the Cowboys the star
00:20in his mind Jerry Jones was asked about the contract conversations with Micah Parsons who
00:26reported the camp yesterday in Oxnard but is still not happy looking for that new deal here is what
00:34Jerry Jones had to say about their conversations with Micah Parsons and what the potential snafus
00:40have been just because we sign him doesn't mean we're going to have him he was hurt six games last
00:45year seriously we've signed I remember signing a player for the highest paid at the position in
00:52the league and he got knocked out two-thirds of the year Dak Prescott so there's a lot of
00:59things you can think about when you just as the player does when you're thinking about
01:05committing and guaranteeing money frankly uh frankly uh should we have waited on digs and steel
01:15oh you brought them up I did
01:20man that is a Jerry Jones master class anytime that you can take shots at the stars of your franchise
01:30at the star the quarterback that you Jerry decided to pay 60 million dollars per year making the
01:37highest paid player in NFL history and the guy that has been out there for you for four years
01:43and you have waited till this point till the 11th hour to pay him it's not like it's somebody else's
01:48fault Jerry it's yours anytime you can throw them under the bus DRS to start off a new season
01:55why not do so look in the NFL like you get paid at the top of your position it's what they do
02:02you pay them sooner than later you save money on your salary cap Dallas doesn't like to do that
02:06now there is something to be said about Jerry Jones because he is right about one reason
02:10hey why don't I just get the best out of them and they're on their contract and we'll deal with
02:14it when the contract is actually up because in football you do get hurt but under the same thing
02:18you can't be a hypocrite and say well it's a sport where everybody gets hurt why then Jerry why did
02:22you pay anybody on your roster why'd you pay any of the 53 guys like because there's a chance they
02:25can get hurt and why not just ride it out and say I'm going to sell the Dallas Cowboys because
02:29my team can get hurt at any time like that's a good business mood for you Jerry you can't pick and
02:35choose at this point and you can't also bend the backup linebacker the third string guard he can't
02:41hold out and say I deserve more money because he gets cut nobody cares on the football team because
02:45there's no impact you can't do it with your superstar players and say we'll be just fine if
02:50Michael Parsons misses six games a season holding out and he's not happy about it again it's pulling
02:56in the right direction to start a season with the common goal saying we want to win a Super Bowl
03:01everybody in camp everybody paid everybody works for that goal if you are Michael Parsons understanding
03:07you will be paid more than any defender in the history of the sport as long as your leg doesn't
03:12fall off over the next couple weeks that weighs on people that's your energy that's your mo the minute
03:18you get paid you're in you're all in as a soldier in that organization with the common goal of winning
03:22things but when people start to say I got to get mine before I get out on that football field or I'm
03:27being the good soldier I played last year I showed up to camp I showed up the OTAs I'm here for you
03:32Jerry and then you hear like oh we work things out only to not work things out and we'll let this play
03:37out at this point like nothing gives you good vibes and also Michael's a good dude he's not in trouble
03:42with the law he crushes pockets and wrecks game plans those are the guys you're supposed to pay
