What's new at Birmingham's Christmas Market 2024

We visit the market on its first day to find out what's new this year

00:00It's been the first day of the German market, we're expecting quite a few people to come

00:12into the city centre. We're looking forward to it being here this winter, it brings in

00:16millions of people from across not just Birmingham but the UK and also Europe. So this year we've

00:22got the same number of markets as we did last time but in addition there's five craft markets

00:28here as well so that's more variety for local people and those that just come along to enjoy.

00:33One of the great things about the German market is that it brings in over 7,000 jobs whilst

00:37he's here which is great for the local economy and over £200m comes through through people's

00:43spending whilst they're here. It's great for Birmingham and we're really proud to be hosting

00:48it for over 20 years.
