From three meteor showers to a planetary alignment right next to a famous constellation, here are the top astronomy events to mark on your November 2024 calendar.

00:00November will feature not one, not two, but three meteor showers.

00:10The first two showers are the Southern Taurids and the Northern Taurids.

00:14Unlike most meteor showers with peaks lasting for only one or two nights, both Taurids offer

00:19peaks that extend throughout the first two weeks of November.

00:23Although they produce just five meteors per hour, these meteors are also known to spark

00:28as bright, luminous fireballs.

00:30The last meteor shower in the trio are the Leonids.

00:34The Leonids produce the most shooting stars at their peak on the night of November 17-18,

00:39with 15-20 meteors per hour.

00:43November's full moon is known as the Beaver Moon.

00:45During this time of year, beavers begin to prepare for winter.

00:49It will also be the final supermoon of 2024, which will rise on the night of November 15.

00:55The next supermoon will not be until October of next year.

00:59Finally, on the night after the Leonids, check out a planetary alignment between the Moon,

01:04Mars and Jupiter.

01:06These celestial objects will appear right beside the constellation Orion on the night

01:10of November 18.
