From a close encounter with Saturn to the changing seasons, here are the top astronomy events of September 2024.

00:08The gas giant will reach its peak brightness when it's in opposition on the night of

00:12September 8th.

00:13With a telescope, you'll be able to see Saturn's famous rings and its largest moons,

00:17including Titan.

00:19A partial lunar eclipse will darken the moon on the night of September 18th.

00:23The eclipse will be visible in most of North America, South America, Africa, Europe, and

00:28the Middle East.

00:30This month's full moon is known as the Harvest Moon, and it's going to be a super moon,

00:35making this the Super Harvest Moon eclipse.

00:38On September 22nd, the seasons will change once again under the equinox.

00:43Autumn begins in the Northern Hemisphere, and spring begins for the Southern Hemisphere.

00:48In the days after the equinox, look for an astronomical phenomenon known as the zodiacal

00:53light, which is dust particles in the plane of our solar system that reflects light from

00:56the sun.
