Skegness Foodbank is bracing itself for a busy winter due to rising fuel prices and the cost of living.
00:07
There's been a lot of concern about how the budget will affect people.
00:13
Are you expecting more people at the Foodbank this winter?
00:17
Absolutely we are, yes.
00:19
So we've seen in previous years trends where energy prices are on the rise where we are busier than we normally are.
00:27
From my understanding the energy prices are on the rise, the cost of living is on the rise, we've got the budget coming through.
00:34
We're not entirely sure how that's going to go but chances are things are going to go up and we're going to get busier.
00:40
We already anticipate being busier because of all the energy prices and stuff but there's also Christmas on the way too.
00:47
People's purse strings are tighter than they've ever been and it's going to involve more footfall here at the Foodbank.
00:55
So we're just getting ready for that now.
00:57
And what about donations, have they been good?
01:01
Yes we've got a lot of really generous people in Skegness, lots of generous businesses.
01:06
We're getting a lot of help from the supermarkets and a lot of help from local people.
01:10
But the amount of people that are needing food parcels is greater than the amount of donations that we're getting in.
01:18
We're applying for funding as much as we possibly can but we're so busy giving out food parcels we don't have a lot of time to apply for funding.
01:26
We're trying our best to keep things afloat and meet the need of the community but it's increasingly difficult.
01:32
So any donations that can be given to the Skegness Foodbank will make a really big difference.
01:37
We're also really grateful for all the people that give us stuff.
01:40
Thank you for all the people that donated for the Harvest Festival.
