A Christmas Community Meal has taken place at the Storehouse Church in Skegness. The Storehouse was nominated by Lincolnshire World to receive produce for the meal from the Buckingham Emergency Food Appeal. Other donations were made by local councillors Billy and Danny Brookes and Carl Macey. The meal was delivered thanks to the hard work of volunteers and students from Skegness Grammar School. 00:00Well this is the start of the storehouse's Christmas party. Not too many here at the
00:13moment yet, we're still waiting for them all to turn up. And basically if you're homeless
00:19or anything else, you've been invited down for a meal. If you're an addict, you're invited.

00:33This is the second group of the grammar school students.
01:03These are, I think there's about 18 grammar school students.
01:30They're doing very good actually. They've got the highest amount ever when they were
01:37like already 33. Yeah, that's incredible. This is the largest, this is our fourth year
01:45running. And then we've got the grammar school, which we had last year, we've got the sixth
01:52I'm not sure if you can see some of them in the background. They're here to help get the
02:01guests seated and everything like that. So it's really, really good. And it's a bit of
02:07a lot of work.
02:38Hi. Well, we're in the kitchen. How many are you going to actually be feeding today? Do
02:47you know? 170. 70? 170. Are they all the same meal or are they going to be different meals?
02:58Yeah, we've got about, they've got about 10 special diets. People allergic to bananas,
03:08allergic to milk and all of that. The sort of people what's invited today? Yeah, people
03:13in the community, we've got the elderly, we've got the homeless, we've got all sorts of people
03:20from the Skegness community coming in. So it's a lot of work. It is a lot of work. And we see
03:28we've got the grammar school students here. Yeah. We take it they'll be helping you serve
03:33the meal. They help us serve the meal. About 18 of those. And the grammar school, we've
03:39got two lots of 22. Oh, 22. So it's 44 grammars. Yeah, so 44 in total. Right. And you think
03:46how many adults going off today? We've got entertainment coming up. One, so we're going
03:52to have Christmas carols, Christmas music, a bit of singing, dancing. And who's doing
03:59the entertainment today? It wouldn't be Steve, Real Deal Promotions? Yes, yes, exactly. Thank
04:05you. From that promotions. Yes, Steve is the one doing the, he's not coming physically.
04:10No, but we've met Steve a few times. He really does a good job. So yeah. And as you can see,
04:17we're in the kitchen. Yes. Roast potatoes. Anyone for a roast potato? Yeah. There's Linda
04:24over there, but she's not saying a lot. I'll say we're in the kitchen. We're under their
04:32feet. There we go. I might even be stopping for my dinner myself. Yeah. Who knows? So
04:44yeah, I mean, it's one of those things. How many years has this actually been going on?
04:49This is the fourth Christmas meal. The fourth Christmas meal we've put on. Yeah. And we
04:54have the grammar school over there. Right. So you want us to go over there? Yeah, we'll
04:58go through there. I don't want to knock anything over. There we go. Look, without the pot washers
05:05the place is nothing. Yeah. Is it Linda? And more potatoes to be roasted. All the food
05:12up. There it is. So we're in the area now where the grammar school is and we've got
05:22tables set up here. Yes. Hey, nice to see you. You okay? Nice to see you. There's roughly
05:37about 44 or so children or students, let's say, from the grammar school. Well, we're
05:49with two of the grammar school students, Isabel and Ruby. I think I've got that right.
05:54Yes, that's right. How did the grammar school get involved in this? We believe it's been
05:58going four years now. Yeah, so our school came last year as well to volunteer with the
06:04lunches, like all the Christmas lunches. And it's really, our school's all about giving
06:08to the community and it's, you know, it's only up the road. So it's really not too hard
06:12for us to get here either. And it's just really nice to see all the community, like, coming
06:17together. You know, all the students, you know, we all volunteered to do this. It's
06:21not forced. I believe there's about 44 students today. Yeah, I think that's about right. Yeah.
06:27At least I've got some at right today. And, you know, I'm not a grammar school boy. I'm
06:33a secondary, modern school. But, you know, my daughter went through the grammar school.
06:38She came out with flying colours. I know what the school does for you. I know it's a lot
06:43learning as volunteers and all the rest of it. So to see you all here on a day like this,
06:48helping the public, coming together, giving the public a good day. We believe Steve's
06:53turning up later on with real-deal promotions to sing carols. Are we going to get any carols
06:58singing from the grammar school? Well, we do have a choir, but not today. Thank you
07:04very much. And we'll see you later on. Yeah, see you later. Well, as you can see, it's
07:10filled up quite nicely now. Everyone's sitting down. The meals will all be served soon. Just
07:20waiting for the entertainment and everything going to arrive.
