As ‘Kristine’ exits, tropical depression near PAR intensifies into storm

As Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” (international name “Trami”) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday afternoon, Oct. 25, the tropical depression outside the PAR intensified into a tropical storm, which was assigned the international name “Kong-rey.”  In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Kristine was last located 410 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, moving west-northwestward at 30 kilometers per hour (kph). 00:11if we can see it here in our satellite imagery,

00:14its rain bands are still hitting parts of our Philippines.

00:19That's why we still have the Tropical Cyclone Bulletin

00:22and later, we will also release the Under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.

00:28This is the Severe Tropical Storm Christine,

00:31the last to pass in the 410 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur.

00:37It has a strong wind of 95 kilometers per hour near the center

00:41and a gust of 115 kilometers per hour.

00:45Its movement is west-northwest at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.

00:50As we can also see, we have what we call southwesterly wind flow.

00:55As we can see here in Visayas and Mindanao,

00:58we can see some clouds here in the satellite imagery.

01:02This will also bring a heavy downpour with scattered rains,

01:07particularly here in Visayas and Mindanao.

01:10Let's also update on the storm we are watching here outside our PAR.

01:16This is a tropical storm

01:19and it has an international name, Kongray, from Cambodia.

01:23This is the last to pass in the 2,380 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon.

01:30It has a strong wind of 65 kilometers per hour near the center

01:34and a gust of 80 kilometers per hour.

01:38Its movement is northwest at a speed of 35 kilometers per hour.

01:43As we can see, this is possible.

01:45It entered our Philippine Area of Responsibility by weekend

01:50and this is what we call Leon.

01:54Let's update on what will be the track of this storm.

02:54along with Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, and Nueva Ecija.

03:00Signal number one also here in Metarlac, Sambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan,

03:06Metro Manila, northern portion of Rizal, and northern portion of Cavite.

03:12What do we still expect from Christine in terms of rainfall?

03:16Also, here in our southwesterly wind flow,

03:19we still expect moderate to heavy or 50 to 100 millimeters of rain.

03:25Here in Palawan, western Visayas, Negros Occidental,

03:29southern portion of Negros Oriental, and in Buanga Peninsula.

03:34When it comes to wind, we still expect strong gusts of wind,

03:39especially here today in Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, Dinagat Island,

03:45Surigao del Norte, northern Mindanao, Sambuanga Peninsula,

03:49Bangsamoro, Socsargen, and Davao Region.

03:52For tomorrow, Saturday, we also expect strong to gale force of winds here in Palawan,

03:58Romblon, western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Siquijor, Bohol,

04:03Southern Leyte, Sambuanga del Norte, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.

04:09By Sunday, here in Palawan, Romblon, Visayas, Sambuanga del Norte,

04:14Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.
