00:00Hello, how are you? Welcome to Blender and Just Add Colour.

00:04Now, what will I be doing here?

00:07In Just Add Colour, what we want to do is

00:11I'm going to be adding a colour, I'm going to UV map it

00:15and we're going to texture it. That's what I'm going to do in this video.

00:19Just to let you know that. So click on the box.

00:23If you want to, go here. Look in the desktop, look at the UV map.

00:27Now, if you click the box and look here, you'll see there's a cross thing in the middle of it.

00:31So I think it's pretty great.

00:35Now, that's the UV map for that. Go here.

00:39Don't forget, we just opened Blender.

00:43Just press UV map and you'll get a map like that. Go here.

00:47Straight away. Calm down. Go export UV map.

00:51It'll say to you where you want to put it. We want to put it in the downloads.

00:55Put it in here. You can put a name if you want to.

00:59I'm just going to call it UV. That's the UV map.

01:03Go here. Save it.

01:07Go here. Texture.

01:11It doesn't have a texture. Look, we can't paint it.

01:15Go in here and paint it.

01:19Let's go to the paint bucket.

01:23We can't throw it on here because it's not part of this.

01:27Go here.

01:31You can't save it. What you want to do is go here.

01:35Give it a name. If you want to name it.

01:39I'm going to give it a name.

01:43Very easy. Very simple. Background.

01:47If you want to, just leave it like that.

01:51Just leave it. Don't touch that.

01:55Go here and save it.

01:59As you can see, it looks like this.

02:03Of course, we want to be able to comment on it.

02:07Take the colour and throw it on there.

02:11Don't forget, this is going to be the texture colour for this box.

02:15When you're happy with it, put a shield on it if you want to.

02:19There's no point in doing that yet.

02:23Now look down here and save it as.

02:27Go to downloads. Don't name it. Just leave it.

02:31Now if you go into downloads, you will have two files in there.

02:35I'll show you.

02:39Right click on it and open it in MSPaintShop.

02:43Notice that this is our map.

02:47In here, if you want to.

02:51Take some colour and put some scribble on it.

02:55And then just close it. Save it.

02:59That's the UV map. Of course, you don't want to draw on the UV map.

03:03This is our texture.

03:07Of course, we can't see the scribble.

03:11Don't worry about that.

03:15Go back to layer mode.

03:19As I showed you, we've got two textures in a download.

03:23We've got a UV map and a texture for it.

03:27Over here, you can only see the texture part.

03:31If it's in object mode, click the object.

03:35Look, you've got a material.

03:39The material is the colour of your object.

03:43I'll show you the texture if you go here.

03:47Put a shield on it.

03:51It's going to ask you where the texture is.

03:55If you want to see, press that.

03:59The texture is the one that's got the colour on it.

04:03Even though it says texture,

04:07as you can see, it does say texture.

04:11In the texture file,

04:15load in the black and white one.

04:23It should say UV map.

04:27Bring in the black and white one.

04:31Go to material.

04:35In the material, you have to press the yellow dot.

04:39Go to image and texture.

04:43It will open here.

04:47Go back to your downloads.

04:51This one is the material.

04:55Open it.

04:59Now that should apply to your action box.

05:03Go to live view.

05:07Where is it?

05:11If we go back into the UV map,

05:15you'll notice that I've scribbled.

05:19You're not going to see it, so don't worry about it.

05:23Put the shield on it.

05:27Ideally, you'll want to save the cube.

05:31Let's export the object.

05:39Take this, this, this and this.

06:55It is on there, but you can't see it.

07:19If we go back to Windows,

07:23we can now see the actual cross.

07:27Of course, you can do on there whatever you want.

07:31If you want to draw, sketch,

07:35or do some kind of artwork like this.

07:39You can do with it whatever you want.

07:43Maybe you don't want to do that.

07:47Let's leave it like that.

07:51Notice how it hasn't changed.

07:55You can load it.

07:59As soon as you load it, it changes.

08:03Of course, we don't want to put brush marks on the cross.

08:07Maybe you want to put something else on there.

08:11You can put text on it.

08:15You don't have to just draw here.

08:19If you go on here and let's say

08:23we want to pick a colour that we can actually see.

08:27Of course, we want to change this.

08:31We can spray paint it.

08:35As you can see, we're actually painting on the texture.

08:39If you're pretty good

08:43at doing some spray graffiti,

08:47of course, if I right click,

08:51you can see how much paint gets

08:55sprayed on the feed.

08:59This is basically how much colour you want.

09:03You want the full colour.

09:07Of course, we can have it like that if we want to.

09:11We can change it to green.

09:15Of course, you don't want it green.

09:19We want a different colour.

09:23Let's try blue.

09:27As I said, we don't want it green.

09:31We might want a bit of green.

09:35Maybe there's a bit of sky here.

09:39As I said, it's up to you.

09:43Now, of course, what you do is go to your image and save it.

09:47Go to image, press save, and it will save the image.

09:51Save it.

09:55If you don't want to make any kind of errors on there, press this.

09:59Left click, hold and drag it.

10:43Now you see the image.

10:47We just changed it.

10:51Open the image.

10:55Now the box goes back to reset.

10:59As I said, it's up to you how you want to go about doing it.

11:11Export. Export it back to OBJ.

11:15Right click, delete it.

11:19That is how easy it is to UV map the box.

11:27Let's say you open the UV box.

11:31You're thinking, well, I don't have any maps.

11:43If you can't see it, select all.

11:47Select all the box.

11:51It will show you the UV map you've got.

11:55We've already got one, so we've already painted it.

11:59If you don't want that map, you want to start fresh.

12:07Now we've got a brand new map.

12:11If you can't see your actual UV map, it looks like that.

12:15Go to OBJ. Click it.

12:19Select all of it.

12:23It doesn't matter what the object is.

12:27A box, a house, a car, a person, a toenail.

12:31Export your map to your downloads.

12:35Save it. I'm not going to save it, because we've already got it.

12:39Give it a name. Call it UV map.

12:43Save it. It's not save it.

12:47It is save it, but it's called export.

12:51What you have to do is come back out of this mode.

12:55You can do it in this mode.

12:59I'm going to go to layer.

13:03Don't forget inside the layer to checkerboard.

13:07Because the checkerboard is black and white, it's going to ask you for the black and white photo.

13:11Just remember the checkerboard is black and white.

13:15Go to download. You want the black and white one.

13:19Load it. It goes here.

13:23This corner one here, material.

13:27That's the texture there.

13:31To load the texture, you have to load the texture.

13:35Press the yellow dot.

13:39It will ask you where is it.

13:43Open it. It just loads your texture.

13:47It's as easy as that.

13:51These are really short tutorials about Blender.

13:55I don't use the basics, so when I show you my templates,

13:59I'm talking about all of the objects you can get out of my objects.
