00:00Hello and welcome. Welcome to the Big Tips. Welcome to the Book Box. Welcome to the World in a Cyclone.
00:06Depending on where you are watching the content. Welcome. Either way.
00:10Now, I'll be showing you a video. I won't be showing you a video. I'll be showing you how to fix.
00:16If you look up here, I put the text here so you can read it. It's called Character Inverted Normals.
00:22Now, if you're using, let's say, Cranian, or really, especially Unity. Unity, when you import your models into that.
00:30The model is back to front. It's inside out. They call it Inverted Normals.
00:36You say, well, what actually is an Inverted Normal? What is it?
00:40Well, I'll show you what it is. Click the box on Inside Render.
00:44Now, it can be absolutely anything. I will show you. That's the cube. If you go inside the cube, it is by character.
00:50It's the same thing I will show you. Okay. Go here. Click the box inside Blender.
00:56This is an easy way how to fix it. Okay. Now, when you click the box, just go here.
01:02The most important thing in Blender, if you're using Blender, turn back faces on.
01:09Because if it's not turned on, and you look at the box, I'll show you. I'm going to turn it on.
01:15I'll click the box. Go here. Edit. We're not going to do no work.
01:19I'm just going to show you. Go faces. Now, when you click a face of a box.
01:25That's a, that's this. An Inverted Normal. I'll show you. Click on it. Go to Mesh. Go to Normal.
01:33Look, it's called Normal. And it's called Flip. So you could call it Flip Normal.
01:40But if you say, if you put the ING on the end of that, it sounds like you're swearing, even though you're not.
01:46So, we've got to turn the face, basically back inside it. That's what we have to do. Press that.
01:52Now, if you look at the box, you say, well, have you just deleted it? No. It's still there. See the face? It's still there. Watch.
02:00If I go here, and if this is turned off, the box looks normal. And if you go here and turn it on, you'll notice the face.
02:12The face is not, the face is not wrong. Watch. If you go inside, look. This face now is correct.
02:19But all the rest of the faces. If you zoom into it. As I say, if you zoom into that, you'll notice that all these faces are wrong.
02:29And this one is correct. I think it, ehm. So when you, basically, I'm telling you.
02:34When you send it over to, turn this on. Turn it round. Find the one that's invisible.
02:41So, find the invisible piece. Click here. Go here. Normal. And flip. That's it. That's all we have to do.
02:49Now, supposing you want to do that. Well, let's suppose now it's the whole entire character.
02:55So, what we can do here. We click the whole entire box. I'm going to go here. Just, just for now.
03:02And you go down to normal. And you flip it. Okay. The whole entire box is transparent.
03:09The whole point of that. The reason for that. Is let's say you're a character. And you're inside a room.
03:15You don't need to see outside. So all the walls inside of the room. Because now you're a character.
03:23As you can see. Now. We can't physically see outside the room. So, yeah. We don't know what's outside.
03:31There might not be. The whole idea of that. Is because there might not be nothing out here.
03:36So we don't want anyone to see that. So, of course. As I said. All you do is go to your model.
03:42Don't matter. It's a character. A cat. A dog. An alligator. Doesn't matter. Whatever you've got.
03:47Select the whole entire thing. Click on the thing itself. Go here. And go normal. Flip. And that's it.
03:56Now, if you export that back out. Go here. Export. Export it back out to FBX. Because that's what Unity likes.
04:05That's what CryEngine likes. That's what Real Engine likes. That's what Real Engine likes. If you export it as that.
04:11It will work absolutely perfect. Now. If you export it. Let's suppose you export it into Unity.
04:19And let's say it's all normal. Like this. In Blender. Look. Leave it on. If you export a deal like that.
04:26And you put it into the set on Real Engine. And it don't work. Here's option two.
04:32Select the whole entire model. Now. Don't forget. This works great. So I'm going to show you. Go here. Go here.
04:40Go here. Mesh. Normal. And flip it. Now. You see we've turned it actually inside out.
04:47Now. All you have to do is select the whole entire character. Select the whole cube. The whole character. Whichever the case may be. Go here.
04:57And this time. Export it. To FBX. Again. This time. You export it inside out. Now. When you import it back into. Let's say. Unreal Engine.
05:11Because Unreal Engine kind of turns it the opposite way. Yeah. It will automatically turn it the right way.
05:19When you import it. So. You understand what I mean. So. If you import something that's inside out.
05:25And the software. And the software. Does the opposite. You need to do the opposite to what it's doing.
05:31So. As I say. It's up to you. So. I'm going to tell you. Just go here.
05:37If you're having that problem. That's how you do it. Really. If I was having that problem.
05:42Because. You don't get the same problem. With all different game engines.
05:46What I would do. I would leave one like this. I would go over here.
05:51I would export it as. Inverted. Because that's inverted. And then I'll go back over here.
05:59I'll select it all. I'll go to mesh. And I'll do here. And I'll leave one standard.
06:05So. I'll go inverted. And standard. Go here. Go to here. Back to export. Export it back out.
06:12Now you've got an inverted one. And you've got a standard one. It's exactly the same object.
06:17Exactly the same character. Exactly the same animation. Doesn't matter. Drag it into the game engine.
06:22And you're going to find. You're not going to have any problem with it.
06:25I really hope that this video helped you out. It's nice. Easy. And simple.
06:30Stay safe. Keep it friendly. Don't forget to subscribe. I would very much appreciate it.
06:34See you soon. Bye.
