00:00This is a tough matchup for a team that does not have Aiden to begin with.

00:04It would have been tough with Aiden.

00:06I mean, this is a 5-0 Vikings team.

00:07I don't want to look past him.

00:08I know it's Sam Darnold and we don't think he's very good,

00:10but don't we have to acknowledge that what they're doing with Darnold

00:13is what we did with Goff?

00:14Bringing a guy who's a former first-round pick,

00:17support him with a run game, an offensive line, a good coordinator,

00:20great receivers, playmakers galore,

00:22and let him just kind of distribute the ball.

00:25And Minnesota stops the run and Flores dials up the pressure

00:28and the only way you really get to Goff is not necessarily blitzing,

00:32but pressuring.

00:32The blitz has to get home.

00:35I, for the first time this season,

00:37do not expect the Lions to win a football game.

00:40But it's also, the game plan defensively

00:45should be to make Sam Darnold have to go win the game.

00:50Put the pressure on him.

00:51They've not been in that position where he's had to go win a game.

00:55Sure.

00:55So if you've already signed D.J. Reader,

01:00Levi Onzarike's played well,

01:01you have re-signed and paid Aleem McNeil

01:04as the number four highest paid defensive tackle in the NFL,

01:11you go out there and you stop the run

01:13and you force Sam Darnold to be the reason

01:18that they beat the Detroit Lions.

01:19And I don't think he can be the reason that they beat the Lions.

01:23For me, it's pound town for the Lions.

01:26The Vikings had the second-rated run D in the league,

01:29but Jordan Mason did have a 100-yard game against them this year.

01:33So that seems to be a little bit of a jaded stat

01:35that they're that good.

01:37They've been up on teams and teams stopped running.

01:39Joe Mixon didn't play against them.

01:40Fair point.

01:41So it might be a fake stat.

01:42We'll see.

01:43It's a good note.

01:43So go do it, Lions, and do it.

01:45And you know how you stop a Flores defense?

01:48Because the whole key to this thing with his defense

01:50is they're showing a look

01:51and then they're doing something else, wants to snap.

01:53And that's going to put decision-making in real time on Jared Goff

01:57because he can recognize everything at the line all he wants.

01:59But the second he snaps it, they're going to do something else.

02:01That's been the key to it.

02:02That's the chaos of what they're doing.

02:05So guess what you do?

02:05You run the football.

02:06It's a great point because when they played the Bucs twice last year,

02:10blitz-heavy defense, Goff was very good.

02:13Now this year when they played the Bucs, he threw it 55 times.

02:15I don't think anybody wants to see that against a Flores defense.

02:18You need to be more balanced.

02:19I'm not saying it's got to be perfect,

02:20but they do need to run the football in this game.

02:22And there are going to be games where you just have to go out

02:24and score more than the opponent.

02:25I mean, that's the whole key, right?

02:26Is to win the game, is to score more than the opponent.

02:29But this offense is going to have to continue

02:31to be the best offense in the NFL.

02:33And it's keep away, right?

02:35It's keep your defense fresh.

02:36So when you do need them to get after the quarterback,

02:38they're not huffing and puffing and gasping for air

02:40because you win time of possession,

02:42because you keep them off the field.

02:43Justin Jefferson has to sit on the bench

02:45while you go on these 15-play drives

02:48where you bully the opposition up and down the field.

02:51It's time of possession.

02:52It's field position.

02:54And I'll take Jack Fox

02:55and being able to flip the field any day of the week.

02:57So could you argue that David Montgomery

02:59is one of the guys that has to step up most

03:01without Aiden Hutchinson?

03:02Like, obviously, the clear thing is Haskell.

03:05Yeah, and the guy we labeled as the tone setter.

03:08Yeah, but I think you could say Montgomery,

03:09as weird as this is, a player on the other side of the ball

03:12is one of the biggest keys

03:13for the Lions post-Aiden Hutchinson.
