00:00The season is such a long year, right?

00:04We had so many little moments throughout the year, right?

00:06I remember being out downtown opening day,

00:08talking to AJ Hotstart, right?

00:10Dan Dickerson joins us that morning on the radio

00:13and like, hey, baseball's back

00:14and there's something romantic.

00:16Good April, nosedive in May, June, July.

00:21Kirk Gibson calls in, like we had all these moments, right?

00:24These knockdown drag outs about adding bats last off season.

00:27Scott Harris joins the show, trade deadline.

00:29They're gonna lose 90 games

00:31only to see this team fight the entire way to the finish line

00:35and do something that we've never seen for the Tigers

00:37and that baseball has only seen two times

00:39in over a hundred years.

00:41So I left feeling pretty satisfied with the season,

00:44knowing that it's the start of something,

00:45but knowing that they need to follow through.

00:47Knowing that we can't be talking about bats

00:49going two of 23 runners in scoring position,

00:5118 left on base and 16 strikeouts in an elimination game.

00:55Like they have to address the bats, plural, this off season.

01:00All the young guys are just gonna turn

01:01into all-stars next season, help them out.

01:03Help them out with one or two key bats

01:05strategically placed infield, outfield.

01:07I'm not even telling them how they have to do it.

01:10It's just, we all should be on the same page now.

01:13Spend, add, bats please now immediately.

01:16Like feed the beast.

01:17The city got a taste of it, feed the beast.

01:19Yeah, just get better.

01:21Build on what happened this year at the end of the season,

01:24be in a playoff team, don't let this be a one-off.

01:27Don't take steps back.

01:28Don't have this be a fluke.

01:29Keep that forward momentum going.

01:31And yeah, there are, you wanted to see,

01:33you didn't want to block bats,

01:34you didn't want to block opportunities.

01:36You've seen, you've learned about all of these players.

01:39Now what is it that you've learned about them

01:41and can they be a part of the future?

01:43I do believe there's a nice core here,

01:46but you've got to decide,

01:47is Spencer Torkelson a part of that core?

01:50Do you trust that he, as a bat,

01:53will continue to improve in the field?

01:55Will he get better with his glove?

01:57It's all of these things.

01:59Parker Meadows, I think he's a guy that,

02:02when he went down to AAA, we kind of all questioned,

02:06boy, not even hitting 100,

02:09can he possibly be a part of the future?

02:12Lot of question marks.

02:14He came up and showed that not only as a bat,

02:18can he be much better, but as a center fielder,

02:19he was a stud.
