Hello. Following Friday's wet and windy weather, we see blustery showers through the weekend
00:07
for most places. But first, on Friday evening, we've still got some heavy rain and strong
00:13
winds clearing the southeast and for a time, the risk of gales through the Dover Strait,
00:18
50 mph wind gusts perhaps for exposed parts of Kent. Once that's out of the way after
00:23
midnight, clearer and slightly lighter winds, but for many it's a blustery night. There
00:28
will be further showers into Scotland, Northern Ireland, western parts of England and Wales.
00:32
And of course, with the keen breeze, even where we've got the clear spells, it's not
00:36
going to be as cold as it was on Thursday night. We're going to see temperatures dip
00:39
to 8 to 12 Celsius. And bright blue skies first thing through central and eastern parts
00:45
of the country. But it won't last long. We're going to see showers from the word go across
00:49
much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, western England and Wales. And through the morning
00:53
those showers will increasingly start to affect other parts of the country. I think
00:59
just the far east of East Anglia, perhaps the far northeast of Scotland, mostly avoiding
01:04
the showers. Otherwise, nowhere immune. Those showers coming through thick and fast, they
01:09
will be fleeting, so they won't last that long in any one spot. But equally, if you're
01:14
in the northwest, any brighter interludes won't last that long either. It will be breezy
01:19
here and that's going to make it feel cool, 14 or 15 Celsius. In the south, a bit less
01:24
breezy and with a bit of shelter in between the showers, 18, 19 Celsius possible. So feeling
01:30
pleasant enough. But yeah, the showers moving through quickly and furiously in the northwest.
01:38
In the south, I think the showers easing into Saturday evening and drier for a time. But
01:44
towards the end of the night, during the early hours, the clouds thicken towards the southwest
01:49
and some rain starts to edge in here. Of course, with the thickening cloud, 13 Celsius
01:55
in the southwest, a mild night. But elsewhere, well, a cool night where we get some clear
02:00
spells and a bit of shelter from the breeze. Temperatures straying into the single figures.
02:06
Now the rain in the southwest is carried in by this sliding weather front and there's
02:10
some uncertainty about the north-south position of it. It's just about threatening to bring
02:16
a wet day to southern coastal counties of England and perhaps south Wales. But because
02:21
of the uncertainty in its position, small differences in the forecast will lead to big
02:27
differences in the outcome for Sunday, whether or not it's dry or wet in the south. But it
02:33
looks most likely at the moment that we will see some spells of rain and some thicker cloud
02:38
affecting southern counties through the day on Sunday. And there'll be brighter skies
02:43
the further north you are away from that. Further showers to come for Scotland and Northern
02:47
Ireland, but they'll be less numerous and less heavy with less of a breeze compared
02:51
with Saturday. So for many, well, northern parts of the country, a drier and brighter
02:57
day, a bit warmer as well. But it's in the far south where there is that question mark
03:02
about how much rain we'll see carried along the English Channel. Of course, we'll keep
03:08
you updated on that and all other aspects of the forecast. You can stay up to date with
03:13
those updates on social media. Bye-bye.
