Eurozone jobless rates remain stable, latest Eurostat data shows

The eurozone unemployment rate stayed at 6.4% throughout June, July, and August, down 0.2% from August last year. However, Greece, Spain, and Sweden have the highest rates of unemployment.

00:00The latest figures on EU unemployment are out, and it's a bit of a mixed bag.

00:11The bad news is there are still 13 million people out of jobs across the bloc, 5.9% of its population.

00:21The good news is the trend is stable, and unemployment actually went down by 0.1% in August compared to June and July.

00:33The highest unemployment rates are in Spain, 11.3%, Greece, 9.5%, and Sweden, 8.4%.

00:45These three countries also have the highest rates of unemployment in women.

00:51Overall, the EU has more women who are out of a job than men, 6.1% versus 5.7%.

01:04The Eurostat dataset also shows youth unemployment figures.

01:09More than 14% of the EU's under-25s don't have a job, with the highest rates in Spain, 24.7%, Sweden, 23.8%, and Estonia, 22.7%.
