00:11Tonight's top story, more than just build hundreds of thousands of units to fill out

00:16the housing backlog, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, or DHSUD,

00:23seeks to put up and or transform such units or housing projects into resilient and sustainable

00:29living spaces.

00:31And this theme or mission will be put front and center in a week-long fair that coincides

00:36with the occasion of National Shelter Month, with the overriding concept of strongly built

00:42homes in sturdy communities of the Bagong Pilipinas, matibay na tahanan, matatag na

00:47komunidad para sa Bagong Pilipinas.

00:50The housing fair, in which private companies will be showcasing their projects, offers

00:56services from DHSUD's key agencies to include the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation,

01:03the Social Housing Finance Corporation, National Housing Authority, and the Pag-ibig Fund.

01:09The fair's opening or kickoff is in step with the observance of World Habitat Day,

01:15celebrated every first Monday of October.

01:19Meanwhile, former President Donald J. Trump made good on his vow to complete his rally

01:25in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he almost lost his life to an assassin's bullet on

01:30the 13th of July.

01:32This time, he had the world's richest man with him as they spewed at barrage of outright

01:38lies and misinformation.

01:40Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris goes on the hustings by way of a media blitz with

01:46high-profile talk shows on TV and radio, as VOA's Veronica Balderas Iglesias reports.

01:54Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was defiant Saturday while addressing his

02:00supporters at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

02:04It was the same area where a shooter wounded him in July during an assassination attempt.

02:10He stressed that the incident, the first of two attempts on his life, only made him more

02:15determined to win the presidential election.

02:18Over the past eight years, those who want to stop us from achieving this future have

02:24slandered me, impeached me, indicted me, tried to throw me off the ballot, and who knows,

02:30maybe even tried to kill me.

02:32House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, was asked to comment on Trump's remarks and

02:38similar ones made over the weekend by the former president's son, Eric.

02:43I don't think they're saying that the Democratic Party tried an assassination attempt.

02:47I think what they're alluding to is what we've all been saying.

02:50They have got to turn their rhetoric down.

02:53Meanwhile, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has been juggling her duties

02:58as vice president with her campaign schedule.

03:02On Saturday, she was in North Carolina pledging federal support to communities affected by

03:08Hurricane Helene.

03:10A day earlier, Harris brought attention to the state of the presidential race.

03:15This is going to be a very tight race until the very end.

03:19Democratic Representative Adam Schiff was asked Sunday on NBC's Meet the Press whether

03:25he believes Harris and the Democrats can win overwhelmingly in November.

03:30I think she can win overwhelmingly, you know, given how divided the country is.

03:37Overwhelming may be winning by 100,000 votes or 80,000 votes in these key battleground

03:42states.

03:43Young people who were disengaged are now engaged, interested, active, volunteering.

03:48So I think we are well poised to win this thing, but it is still scary close.

03:55The vice president will be busy with a series of media engagements this week, including

04:01appearances on popular talk shows her campaign announced.

04:05She's also expected to campaign in Nevada on Thursday and in Arizona on Friday.

04:13The Trump campaign website says the former president will travel to Pennsylvania on Wednesday

04:18to give remarks in Scranton and hold a rally that same day in the city of Reading.
