00:00Following the successful success of the opening night of the East Asia Super League in the Philippines,

00:06the Chief Executive Officer of the League promised that there will be many more events waiting for the Filipino basketball fans.

00:14That's the story of Rafael Valdarreal.

00:18Every season of the East Asia Super League, two teams from the PBA serve as the Philippines' backbone.

00:26But according to the CEO of the League, Henry Cairns, this can be added in the coming years because of their expansion.

00:57At the tip-off event of the 2024-2025 season last Wednesday night at the Mall of Asia Arena, San Miguel Beermen and Meralco Bolts took action.

01:08The SMB was defeated in their game against Suwon KT Sonic Boom,

01:13while the hometown fans were not defeated by the Macau Black Bears.

01:20According to Meralco's star guard, Chris Newsome,

01:23it is a great honor for him and his teammates to make their countrymen happy.

01:31To be able to represent all the Filipino people out there,

01:34we know how passionate they are about the game of basketball.

01:37To bring this level of competition to them and to get our first win on our home court,

01:42I think that means a lot to us and to the Filipino people.

01:46During the previous season, the EASL's Final Four Phase was held in Cebu.

01:52Because of this, the Queen City of the South was able to win against some of the biggest basketball teams in Asia.
