Sudan's army rejects UAE's accusation it attacked ambassador's residence

00:00The army continues its advance in the capital Khartoum.

00:04They launched a major offensive against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces last Thursday,

00:09who have controlled most of the capital since the war broke out in April of last year.

00:14Reports suggest that the army now controls key areas in the city,

00:18including three very strategic bridges.

00:21However, once again, civilians have been caught in the crossfire.

00:24Reports suggest that most of the attacks have been taking place in residential areas

00:29and that there have been quite a few civilian casualties in recent days.

00:33Tensions have also escalated between the United Arab Emirates and the army once again.

00:39On Monday, the UAE accused the army of attacking its ambassador's residence in Khartoum.

00:45The army has denied these accusations and has said that the RSF,

00:49which is allegedly receiving support from the UAE, is the one who was behind that attack.

00:55Now, fighting has also been taking place in other parts of the country,

00:59especially in al-Fashir, the last major capital in the western region of Darfur,

01:05to not be under the control of the RSF.

01:08Civilians in the city, including about 700,000 people who've been displaced

01:13from other parts of the country, have been under siege in al-Fashir for months

01:18and they've received little or no outside assistance.

01:22On Sunday, residents of a displaced camp there organised a protest demanding the end of that siege.
