00:00
Good afternoon. Let's first update on our monitor, Baguiong Julian.
00:06
This is Julian. He is still in the Super Typhoon category.
00:10
And earlier at 4 p.m., he was at a distance of 245 km from Itbayat, Batanes.
00:17
He was carrying a strong wind of 195 km near the center and a storm of 240 km per hour.
00:25
He was moving in the direction of Hilaga, Hilagang, Kanluran, Mabagal.
00:30
Let's now look at Julian's track.
00:33
After 24 hours, he was at a distance of 270 km north-west of Itbayat, Batanes.
00:41
We can see him inside our PAR.
00:45
After 48 hours, he was at a distance of 405 km from Hilaga, Itbayat, Batanes.
00:53
And after 72 hours, he was at a distance of 680 km north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
01:01
We can see him outside our Philippine Area of Responsibility.
01:07
What are we expecting from Baguiong Julian or Super Typhoon Julian?
01:12
We expect him to recurve to the south-west of Taiwan until tomorrow morning.
01:22
We can also expect him to intensify in the next 12 hours.
01:30
But we can also see that before he lands here in the Taiwan area, it is possible for him to weaken.
01:39
And then, it is possible for him to leave our Philippine Area of Responsibility Thursday evening or Friday early morning.
01:48
And then, because of the weak steering, it is possible for him to change the forecast track.
01:54
Because of Julian, the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is still high in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union,
02:03
northern and western portion of Pangasinan, Apayao, Abra, Calinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Batanes,
02:17
Cagayan, Ambabuyan Island, northern and western portion of Isabela, and northwestern portion of Nueva Vizcaya.
02:26
So, we expect a minimal to minor threat to life and property if the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is high.
02:33
We also expect strong winds today in Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region,
02:42
northern and eastern portion of Mainland Cagayan, eastern portion of Isabela, and Zambales.
02:47
Tomorrow, in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Apayao, Batanes, Babuyan Islands,
02:54
northern and eastern portions of Mainland Cagayan, and eastern portion of Isabela.
02:59
And on October 3, in Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
03:05
We also released a weather advisory at 5 p.m. yesterday where we expect strong rains.
03:12
So, we expect moderate to heavy rains 50-100 mm in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte.
03:23
We expect high rains in the mountainous and high elevation areas.
03:30
So, our countrymen who live in landslide-prone and flood-prone areas,
03:35
be careful of floods or landslides.
03:41
We also have a high-level gale warning in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the northern coast of Ilocos Norte.
03:48
So, if possible, do not travel, especially small vehicles and motorbikes,
03:54
because it will be dangerous up to the sea level.
03:59
