Thanks for having us today in Kilauea, out here talking to the AHA about the impact of
00:12
excise tax and what it does to you here, and what it does to the social cohesion and the
00:18
networking of people in coalitions like this, hubs across the electorate, hubs across Australia.
00:22
Very pleased to be invited out here by my great mate, Sam Faraway, candidate for Kilauea,
00:27
hopefully the next member.
00:28
Today was an important day to sit down with publicans and club operators across Kilauea
00:34
and across the Central West.
00:36
We know the cost of living crisis is real.
00:39
We know that also the cost of doing business crisis is very real.
00:43
If you are in the hospitality sector, the biannual excise increase is hurting your business
00:50
operations, your venues, your pubs and clubs right across the country, but there is also
00:55
a real impact for those that operate pubs, clubs and these venues right here in the Central
01:01
West.
01:02
I'm calling on Labor, to begin with, to freeze the excise for two years.
01:08
The reality is that our pubs and clubs are a vital anchor in our regional community.
01:14
It's just disappointing to see the constant stress that our pubs, clubs and venues are
01:20
under with these biannual excise increases.
01:24
We're making sure that they remain the pivotal and anchor that they are in so many of our
01:30
regional communities.
