Zelenskyy Seeks Support for Ukraine in U.N. General Assembly Address

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has addressed the United Nations General Assembly calling for more support in the country's war with Russia. Meanwhile, Russia's President Vladimir Putin issues a nuclear warning to the West.

00:33Zelenskyy took aim at China and Brazil for pushing what he called half-hearted settlement

00:38plans, accusing them of playing to their own interests at Ukraine's expense.

00:45The leader also told the United Nations that Russia is planning to attack Ukrainian nuclear

00:49power plants, repeating calls for world leaders to act together to force Moscow to the negotiation

00:55table.

00:59Absent from the General Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has an arrest

01:05warrant against him from the International Criminal Court.

01:08In Moscow, Putin escalated his nuclear rhetoric, telling senior officials that the Kremlin

01:14would consider using nuclear weapons if it was attacked.

01:38That warning, as Zelenskyy prepares to request the green light to use US-supplied long-range

01:43missiles deeper inside Russian territory.

01:47He's expected to discuss that in a separate meeting with US President Joe Biden in Washington,

01:53presenting his revamped Victory Plan and appealing for further weapon donations and diplomatic

01:57actions to force Russia into peace.

02:01President Joe Biden already pledging his support ahead of that meeting.

02:05I'm determined to ensure that Ukraine has what it needs to prevail and fight for survival.

02:10Tomorrow, I will announce a series of actions to accelerate support for Ukraine's military.

02:16But we know Ukraine's future victory is about more than what happens on the battlefield.

02:23It's also about what Ukrainians do to make the most of a free and independent future.

02:28But the US president stopped short of mentioning long-range missiles, amid fears it could further

02:33escalate the conflict.

02:36With Biden's term nearly at its end, Zelenskyy will also be meeting with Democratic presidential

02:41candidate Kamala Harris, attempting to shore up support for Ukraine, not only for now,

02:47but also for the future.
