00:00A full sized replica of the 17th century Spanish warship arrived in London yesterday and sailed
00:27down the River Thames.
00:28On September 23rd, Tower Bridge opened at approximately 5.30pm to let the 500 tonne
00:36Galleon Andalusia pass through after arriving from Gravesend.
00:41The vessel glided through Tower Bridge twice before arriving at St Catharines Dock.
00:46Galleon Andalusia launched in 2009 and has since covered over 70,000 nautical miles.
00:53This year, the vessel has crossed ports in France, Germany, the Netherlands and multiple
00:58UK cities.
00:59It is a full sized replica of the 17th century Spanish galleons that for over three centuries
01:05took the lead role in many of the longest trade and cultural routes in the history of
01:11maritime navigation.
01:13They were used in expeditions of discovery and inner oceanic trade between Spain, America
01:19and the Philippines.
01:22Now visitors can find out more about the life aboard its decks with the floating museums
01:27interactive presentations and exhibits along with videos, projections, historical documents
01:33and demonstrations by crew members in traditional costume.
01:37The ship will be docked at St Catharines Docks near Tower Bridge from the 23rd of September
01:43until the 6th of October.
01:45It can be visited between 10am and 8pm from September 24th, however dates and times
01:52may be altered due to weather conditions.
