Hello, Miriam at the Bureau with your national weather forecast for tomorrow,
00:03
Friday the 20th of September. Tomorrow's weather map shows us a low-pressure trough
00:08
lying across the northeast of the country, generating patchy showers along the east
00:12
coast of Queensland. In the southeast, we've got another cold front moving through,
00:17
bringing us a fresh burst of windy, showry weather, mainly impacting Tasmania and parts of Victoria.
00:24
Then in the northwest of Australia, we have areas of low pressure starting to deepen,
00:28
generating showers and possible storms across parts of the Kimberley and Pilbara.
00:33
Let's take a closer look at all of that now, state by state, starting with Queensland.
00:38
We'll see some morning fogs in the east, but nothing too extensive,
00:41
with these coastal showers following anywhere to the north of around Noosa or so.
00:45
These showers will be fairly light and isolated, so rainfall totals aren't expected to be high.
00:51
It'll be drier across inland and southern parts of the state, fairly warm in the south too,
00:56
up to 5 degrees above average for this time of year.
00:59
Brisbane is looking at a partly cloudy day tomorrow, top of 31 degrees.
01:04
For NSW, we are going to see some morning frosts across the southern inland parts of the state,
01:09
with generally dry and sunny weather following during the day, except for a cold front approaching
01:15
later in the day, generating some showers across those southern inland parts of the state.
01:19
This approaching front will also increase winds through the southeast once more,
01:23
mainly impacting the southern branch of the Great Dividing Range and the southern alpine areas.
01:29
Sydney though is heading for a more settled day, top of 24 degrees with plenty of sunshine around.
01:33
In Canberra, top of 16 degrees with cloud building during the day.
01:38
Victoria will see a few morning showers in the south increasing as the day goes on,
01:43
and a cold front approaches. That means the showers and gusty winds are likely to be
01:48
most intense later in the afternoon and evening as this system approaches.
01:52
We may even see snowfall above 1300 metres through those eastern alpine areas.
01:57
Melbourne itself heading for a 17 degree day tomorrow, with showers increasing in the afternoon and evening.
02:04
For Tasmania, a bit of a break through the morning before the next cold front approaches
02:08
later in the afternoon and evening, bringing another burst of windy, showery weather.
02:13
Now we may see another 15 to 40 millimetres across the western districts of Tasmania,
02:18
with small hail and snow down to around 600 metres a risk tomorrow as well.
02:23
For Hobart, we're looking at a shower or two moving through, top of 14 degrees.
02:28
South Australia can expect some patchy morning frosts through southern parts of the northwest
02:33
pastoral and west coast districts, but less of a risk across the southern agricultural areas tomorrow.
02:39
In the south though, we will see showers throughout the day, although with generally
02:43
low rainfall totals. Adelaide can expect a shower or two tomorrow, top of 17 degrees.
02:50
Western Australia can expect a few light isolated showers across those southern
02:55
coastal districts once more, keeping the temperatures on the cooler side of things.
02:59
Perth though is looking at sunny conditions tomorrow, a mild top of 22 degrees.
03:04
Looking a little bit further north though, we can see areas of low pressure deepening
03:07
across the Pilbara, generating areas of showers through the course of tomorrow.
03:12
We can see that picture a little bit more clearly on our map that includes the northern
03:15
territory as well, with that low pressure pushing through the Kimberley and generating these
03:20
showers and areas of storms. They may even spill back to western and northern parts of the top end
03:25
too, with drier weather through those central and southern parts of the territory. Now this
03:29
rainfall is expected to be on the lower side of things for tomorrow, but over the weekend we're
03:33
likely to see some of those rainfall numbers really pushing up, particularly across the
03:37
northern parts of Western Australia, so keep an eye out on the forecasts for more info around that
03:42
situation. Darwin tomorrow is heading for a partly cloudy top of just 34 degrees. You can find the
03:48
detailed forecasts for your area via the Bureau's website or the BOM social media. Have a good day
03:53
and we'll catch you tomorrow.
