The Selangor Department of Wildlife and National Parks, Perhilitan, has set up two traps, weighing
00:07
about 200 kilograms each, in an attempt to capture a crocodile that was sighted at a
00:13
lake in Section 7, Shah Alam.
00:30
This is a crocodile trap. We use a chicken trap to trap the crocodile. First, we will
00:39
set up the first trap at the first pass, and then we will set up the second trap across
00:48
the riverbank over there, where it is the main passage for the crocodile that we have
00:55
studied for the last 24 hours. Based on our previous experience, it can be up to a month,
01:05
but it depends on the behavior of the crocodile. The success of an operation to trap the
01:12
crocodile, we look at one situation, if it is not disturbed, it feels safe, so maybe
01:22
it will enter the trap faster with the right food source, meaning the bait that is right
01:29
for the crocodile.
01:31
According to Wan Muhammad Adin, the reptile is a saltwater crocodile, measuring 1.5 metres.
01:39
He added that based on Perhilitan's observation, there was only one crocodile in the lake.
01:45
The Shah Alam City Council has also taken steps to address the situation, as well as
01:51
advise the public to exercise caution.
01:54
When we hear the word crocodile, we are afraid. However, I believe that the Perhilitan
02:03
and other relevant authorities will take the initiative and promise to catch the crocodile
02:12
as soon as possible and put it in the right place.
02:15
For the parents who bring their children, they have to be careful, especially those
02:21
who are close to the beach, so they cannot be released too close. Sometimes we like to
02:27
go to the water to take pictures, to go fishing. Sometimes I see those who go fishing
02:32
at the end, it is also dangerous, so we have to be careful. But we give full confidence
02:38
to the authorities in charge.
02:42
This is not the first crocodile sighting in Shah Alam. In 2019, a baby saltwater crocodile,
03:01
believed to have been released by irresponsible individuals, was captured at the lake in Section 14.
